Not surprised to see him taking his time coming back from all of those injuries, especially after he probably should not have played in the playoffs last year.

I am surprised though that it seems like every week for the past month he was "supposed to play" according to the media.

When is this dude going to come back?

Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, told the "Joe Rose Show" on 560 WQAM in Miami that his client has not yet been cleared to play by Dr. James Andrews

quote:

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter has previously reported that Gronkowski has gone through practice like he were going to play, even being tackled by teammates during contact drills, adding that some within the organization were unsure why Gronkowski has not yet played in a game.

When do the questions about why he isn't ready really start ramping up?

Yes. This isn't exactly a D Rose situation

I'd be super careful too after what happened to him.

And "contact" drills in practice are nothing like games.

I think hed probably be back if the Pats hadnt found a way to go 5-1 without him

I can hear Drew Rousenhouse whispering in Gronks ear that theres no reason to risk it while theyre winning

But they say he will only miss one more game at most but who knows

The way I see it, unless he is cleared to play by his doctor, then there is no point in speculating anything. If the doctor doesn't clear you, then that's the end of the discussion, imo.

Well the Pats doctors cleared him a while ago. Drew Rosenhouse got James Andrews to give a second opinion and hes the one that hasnt clear him

Thats where the discussion comes from

Regardless, I still stand by it. That's what second opinions are for; their purpose is to protect the patient.

And, honestly, if I were a professional athlete, I would want to be cleared by an independent doctor after any major injury/surgery.

It's kind of like getting cleared to play by a specialist I that area (arm surgeries) and saying but this guy didn't clear me to play so I won't and the other guy is an ear, nose and throat doctor. If the guy who performed the surgery on you cleared you, you're cleared.
