Someone, maybe it was in SI, wrote how the spot should be given to Africa.

Africa's results in the World Cup really make a strong case otherwise.

CONCACAF does as well as CAF in the World Cup. You could make a case that Asia and CONCACAF are historically superior to African teams.

Some African teams have substantial talent, but very little success as a team in international competitions.

I think 3 spots for CONCACAF is fine, 3.5 is also fine - though we shouldn't be matched up with oceana - we should be matched up with another regions half spot. But I think Fifa wants to give Oceana and the .5 CONCACAF a legitmate shot to make it - if they matched them up agins the .5 spot from comnebol, there would be no shot for either.

Africa would have to completely change their qualifying for their to be more teams for them. Certainly workable, but also problematic.

Ivory Coast and Ghana would waltz through CONCACAF. Countries like Cameroon, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt have waaayyyy more potential than our second tier teams.

CONCACAF has had slightly better WC success since 98. Though you swap IC and USA's group position in 2010, and that probably becomes an innacurate statement.
