UPDATE: 2 limits of shrimp. Only a dozen crabs, but shrimp were running.

First time in about a year. How have the crabs and shrimp been lately and do you think this cold front will stir them up a bit?

yup-same for Rollover. I went out there about six weeks ago and couldn't have kept them out of my net, and they were huge. Last few times they are much smaller and not so many. More work. Also too many people.

Crabs been slow according to my buddies who live down there. Apparently the shrimp were running good up until a week or two ago

To have a good day for crabbing you have to really get into the remote spots down there this late in the year. You can't just crab on the weirs this late. I know of some spots down there which should still be good but they are remote and difficult to reach. Big Lake for specs might be a better day trip.

Man, that brings back memories. A friend of a friend was an agent down there in the mid 70's. We drank Ponies, ate gar balls and crabs for 4 days. Great times.
We dodged a few rather large gators too.

Went down there Saturday. Super muddy. Caught a limit of real nice shrimp right after sunrise then went fishing. Very slow. Lot of people crabbing but no one doing great. Went back to the weir at about 11 and there were no shrimp to be found. Really slowing down.
