Best way to get to Met Life from Manhattan

Anyone else going to the Saints/JETS GAME IN 2 weeks?? What kind of hassle is the driveCREW looking at trying to get to this jersey shore dump on game day?
Gameday experiences from anyone who's been up there for a Giants/Jets game?

A few things:
Met Life Stadium is a really nice stadium and it is not on the Jersey Shore.
I live in the area and went to the Saints /Giants Game last year and it was alot of fun even though it rained and we lost.
If you are flying into NYC, it is best to not even bother with a car and just take the train. It is alot cheaper and will keep you from having to bother with paying a ton for parking and traffic. Search NJTransit for more info.

From research we get on at Penn Station and switch at sea caucus. Will we have assigned seats or is it every MAN for himself? How long does it take to board the train back to Manhattan after the game? Do they sell beer outside the stadium?

I went to a Jets game in 2008. From what I remember there aren't assigned seats in the train and yes they did sell beer outside.

No assigned seats on the train, you can drink on the train so might want to bring your own beer. You can probably get a 6 pack for the price of 1 beer at the stadium. They will likely have lots of trains going back to the city but I wouldn't wait until the last one out unless you like standing real close to fat, sweaty, and disappointed Jets fans.

This. Do not get in a car on marathon sunday. I have taken to the train to the giants game and it is very easy. Once you get to seacaucus there will be someone directing everyone to the train to the stadium. Or you can follow the herd of people.

If you are staying in SoHo then you might want to consider taking the PATH to Hoboken and catching the NJ Transit from there to Seacaucus. I find Penn Station to be a complete shitshow and avoid whenever possible.
I will try to find the thread where I gave recs to another poster. It will be easier than retyping everything. SoHo is a fun area. Be sure to check out Oficina Latina for a drink. I love this place.

if you're gonna be around east village/union square, you may wanna hit up bar none saturday night. it's the saints bar. i'm sure there will be a crowd, even without an LSU game that night.
