I am a lifetime Magic fan. This is painful to say the least.

This may sound like sour grapes, but I am glad he is gone. I do not care if he wins a championship in Houston. I am glad he is gone. I am glad that the drama he brought is gone.

I wish him well.

In the future? Perhaps.

Right now?

No mother fricking way should a guy who forced his way off the team and is still playing in the league have his number retired.

They don't have to put the number in the rafters and have the ceremony and what not, but they don't have to issue out the number either. Cleveland hasn't given out 23 since Lebron left, for example.

Starting to think this trade will be worse than how TMac ended up here in Houston.

Do you have any proof that they turned down a player who asked for 23? It's only been a couple of years.

If I owned the Magic, I would have the NBA's first woman on the team as the last player on the bench and I would give her Howard's number.

So what? Has a player even requested 23 for the Cavs?

Again, why should a guy who treated his former team like trash and forced his way out deserve special treatment?

neither one of them did enough in their time with the magic to really justify retiring the number

Both had multiple all-star appearances, an nba finals appearance and are clearly the two biggest stars the team has had.

Shaq did more than Dwight did for that franchise.

No way. Shaq is obviously the better player, but Shaq only had 3 playoff appearances and left the team high and dry in free agency. Dwight had 5 playoff appearances and even though he missed the last quarter of the 11-12 season, no way do the Magic make the playoffs without Dwight that year.

I feel the same way as you. Dwight when healthy is elite on the defense side of the ball. Rim protecting and getting boards. Offensively he is all flash and no substance. I wish him well in Houston because I am a fan of Parsons,Harden, and Mchale.
