The only reason I can give for student's leaving early is for the non-SEC games where we have to sit for 2 and a half hours before the game just to get a seat.

There appeared to be plenty of seats open versus Florida. Are students less likely to show up versus the big time opponents?

The school has been more tough on the student section since 2007 when they started the 'Gamecocks' chant and CBS wasn't able to edit it on live tv. I was at LSU during this time, and remember the band not being able to play certain songs because of vulgarity. I feel like ever since this event the student section has never really recovered and gotten cool with the band if you will.

this. No reason to start pulling songs because of "you suck"

as an older student i can tell you the relationship between the SS and the band has gotten worse and worse every year since they keep banning songs

Is it really the band's fault that songs are being banned? How about moving the band if the relationship is so bad? I would welcome them down to my end of the stadium. I know it is not feasible but I would love to be able to hear them better when they decide to play something in the stands.

cramming towards the bottom/shade and packing 15 people into 10 seats will make certain areas look empty

I am on the East sidelines but on the North end. We can barely hear them usually. At least until the stadium clears out at halftime.

best part, after we were kicked out, I finger blasted that old man's grand daughter behind those crummy arse bleachers. She squirted so much she filled an entire cow bell.

A douchebag and a liar.

I'm glad i was a student during the 00-05 football seasons, it was the glory years.

That era really was the apex of LSU football for me. I know we have been to two MNCs since, but the atmosphere in TS was so electric back then.

The last time TS has been trully crazy and loud was the 2008 Bama game when we blocked the field goal to force OT. 2012 Bama was loud, but nothing like it used to be. IN MY OPINION.

After going to Starkville and witnessing a fight between our students and some of their older fans. I was truly embarassed

I REALLY hope you weren't talking about the fight that took place inside the stadium. That dude came into our section for reasons beyond me, and started that fight.

That's honestly very good to hear. From my perspective, I turned around to see an older man laying on the ground with a bloody eye and a handful of our students yelling at him. If it was the old guy who started it, then I take back my statement, but it was still awful the way some of our students (females) tried to fight with the cops and got booted from the stadium.

Sadly, the biggest problem is that the stupidity carries momentum and I'm not sure there's really a way to stop it. I would love to get "Neck", "All of the Lights", "Tiger Rag", etc. back. Unfortunately, it's probably past the point where cooler heads can prevail. At some point, something's gotta give, and I can assure you it won't be the school. LSU will continue to ban songs and suddenly we'll be like every stadium, the band will play the fight song and won't be heard from again.

"You can take the students tickets away!"-- No, that's really not an option, sorry!

The female was not trying to physically fight security. She was trying to explain to them that the fight took place in our section, and that we didn't bait him over there or pick him up and carry him. They were treating all of us like we were obviously the culprits. The only female getting physical was that dude's wife. Security told us not to say anything to the MSU fans while some MSU fans stood right behind them and yelled things like "Suck my balls!" towards us. It was an extremely frustrating experience

good for you son. continue to do the right thing and follow your consionce (sp). you sound like a man of integrity and it will bode well for you in life.

Administration sees an opportunity to raise prices on everything, parking, tickets, concessions, etc. and they gladly do so. A typical fan cannot afford to buy a ticket at face value and spend the amount of money it takes to come to the game when they could easily watch the game on TV. It's sad, but it's true.

this is 100% true! and even so, LSU tickets are still less expensive than many other big time schools so i guess they will continue to go up. same thing has happened to pro sports. the "blue collar" fan is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. of course, blue collar workers are also disappearing.

OP, you're getting thumbs up from grandpa. You must be a fricking blast at parties.

And by the way, I Control-F'd "GDI" in this thread and was sorely disappointed.

being a blast at parties is nothing compared to being a mature individual with values and integrity. believe it or not, when you grow up you might realize this. or you may not and get stuck in a menial job or low position in a company. and the best women won't look at you twice because you are such a blast at parties but a loser in life. believe it or not, when you leave the student "world" women look for maturity and earning ability in their men. so the mature nerds end up winning. just sayin'

I am also a freshman at LSU, and I have routinely read tigerdroppings since I was 12 years old. I have been going to almost every single home game with my dad since I was 3 in 1997. While I was still a young kid I remember throwing parties and getting excited when LSU went to the independence bowl or the peach bowl. Unfortunately most of my classmates are incredibly spoiled when it comes to LSU football and think it is all about the party, they see gamedays as just another excuse to drink, yes it is fun to party but the party should revolve around the game and not the other way around. It truly is sad to see how careless most of the student section is because honestly since watching them as a little kid it just didn't live up to the hype, because the vast majority of them are not true football fans. Just wanted to put it out there that we are not all careless.
