I'm a big Pearl Jam fan. Actually they're my favorite band. Lightning Bolt is pretty solid. If you listened to and liked Backspacer like I did this album is fairly easy to listen to.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only person on here that liked Backspacer.

I guess I actually consider "classic rock" as a genre with a particular sound.

SIAP but when did classic rock become a genre?

Backspacer is an exceptional piece of work. I don't understand why it doesn't get more love.

I just listened to 'Lightning Bolt' for the first time and I really enjoyed it. Highlights for me were 'Sirens' and 'Future Days,' although I enjoyed the entire album.

PJ rules, although Vedder is a straight up douche.

Classic Rock has created it's own category, just like Punk, Grunge, Metal, and Alternative.

Classic rock is grouped together with songs from the 60's through the early 80's, then the transition to 80's rock, glam metal, hair bands ect...Then came Punk then Grunge and Pop...ect.

IMO anything outside of the early 80's will never be classic rock regardless of how old the music gets. The main reason is when the Beatle's and the Stone started playing rock, it all fit, then came Zepplin and others, but they all fit somewhat, this held true with the 80's rock bands started, and they all sounded similar. From the early 90's on there have been many different styles and I'm not sure you can group them all into a category.

Are you sure about this? I really wanted Dokken to be classified as Classic Rock.

I don't care for his politics and he just doesn't seem like a pleasant guy. I wouldn't want to hang out with him.

But I love his music.

You should never give in to this. Of course they do not belong. They are one of my favorite hair metal bands, yet they are what they are. Hair Metal.

Got the album for Christmas. Listened through about three times, and I'm hooked to it. Definitely grown on me, even the Ed solo type songs.

Title track is probably my favorite.

Saw them live again after 10 years at the Dallas show.

Was completely impressed. They are my favorite band. The comparisons to Zepplin are silly. PJ has lasted 20 years. Bonham died after about 12 years of relevance and dominance.

Also, there is a new term called "first generation of classic rock" now. This is for the 60-70's rock.

Pearl Jam belongs in discussions of greatest American bands of all time.

I bought my first bootleg from this year's tour on Christmas Night (Brooklyn 10/19/13) from the PJ website.

It's great to hear the Lightning Bolt songs live again. I wish they'd hurry up and release the Voodoo show.

I saw them in Dallas this year too. Great show and the new album is very good.

Even though I like a few songs from every album, would it be too much to say that it's their best since Yield (from start to finish)?

I have a really hard time finding a song to dislike on "Pearl Jam" (the avocado album.) I could make arguments against Comatose and Big Wave, but the rest of the songs are great.

Somebody mentioned a Springsteen comparison. And I can see it. He was an influence of Vedder's. They play FOREVER. And now their catalog is so big they don't beat you to death with "the new album". They can scatter 4-5 songs over a 3 hour set.

Sirens is a good song. I like most of the songs on the album.
