When LSU played Washington in Seattle parking was free for 4 or more people on car. I think I was $20 for three people and $30 for less than three.

I think something like that would encourage carpooling and greatly reduce the traffic on campus. I know our tailgate everyone comes at different times. 6 couples may have 5 different car out there because they guys want to get there to set up and the wives don't show up until much later.

It will take a combo approach of mass transit and encouraging car pooling; there's just to many vehicles for the infrastructure.

I hate when I see an elderly couple in the sixties/seventies parking way down Burbank and starting to walk towards the stadium.

there are spots. there are just no close spots unless you get to campus very early.

Many people show up at a lot that's full. There's nowhere for them to go, except into a traffic jam headed lord knows where. They don't know if there are spots ahead or not. So they are pissed, and now sitting in traffic, hoping to find a spot for an hour, getting more and more agitated.

Somebody told me he went to park at Kirby Smith and it was full, so he was directed west through the neighborhood across Nicholson to other lots near the levee that were of course backed up and full.

I'm not blaming/absolving anyone of blame--simply explaining what is happening.

Sounds like parking is the big issue...solve the parking problem and you solve many of the game day issues.

I couldn't even pay the 40 bucks to get in campus by ag center.
Guess they were sold out, cop wouldn't let us in.

I had the same experience, tried pulling up around 11 am and was waved off. I asked the cop if it was full or not available today, he just kept waving. Guess talking wasn't allowed that day.

I did just drive a little way down Highland, turned behind the Horseshoe(dorms), and found a spot without too much trouble. I think part of the problem is everybody wanting to pack in within spitting distance of the stadium and getting upset when they can't.

Exactly what i have been saying. No more free parking on campus!!!!! Get a pass. It will help the traffic problems.

So visiting fans can get jumped by thugs? No thanks. I know campus isn't really that safe anymore, but it's at least safer than some of the surrounding areas.

Not a bad idea actually. Charge premium dollar for prime parking spots and do this with the remainder of the lots.

Some have it figured out.
Others have not, obviously.
Personally, I see myself as a George Costanza-like Parking Ninja.
I can get us in and get us out like a superhero.

We definitely now know you are one of the ones who is too cheap to buy a parking pass. Lmao.

Do you even have season tix? Ill bet you just show up in a free spot to tailgate right?

I see now you could not get in a lot that charges. What happened? All the free lots were filled? Buy a pass that will solve your problems.....if you actually intend on going to the game that is

I have a friend that had a parking pass near the Pmac and decided to leave Prarieville at 10am. Needless to say it was close to 12:30 before they ever go to the lot.

I tell people all the time in regards to gameday, you either go early or expect a giant pain in the arse. BR traffic is laughable on a Thursday in March much less on gameday.

People who suggest you shouldn't be allowed on campus without tix need to be told to shut the frick up.

Sorry if that rustles your jimmies.

My wife (no pics) turned around and went home. She tried to get out there around 11:00. I just emailed her this article and this is what she wrote back. I didn't experience any of this because I was out there at 7:30am.

that is a bunch of bs! it wasn't the lots causing the problems it was the way the traffic was being directed and then signs telling you one thing and then LANES BEING CLOSED that the signs told you to get in! That is no joke it looked like hurricane Katrina. Also, if the signs would have said further back that the lots are full that would have helped a whole lot instead of "free parking left lane" or "free parking ahead". A total mess and the jerk cops didn't help things at all. In fact, I saw at least 3 spots open front and center in the hayfield and they had cop cars blocking the entrance.

It's not "shocking" it's just different than in previous years.
For instance I have been able to drive up to Kirby Smith and the surrounding neighborhood and park in the lot or at the elementary school for years.
Now the school is off limits, the band practice field is off limits, the curb parking is gone etc.
My OPINION is that there has been some pretty dramatic parking and traffic pattern changes, a lot of people have not adapted, and that has led to a whole series of events. From no-shows, to anger at LSU, to people circling or backed up in their cars for an extra hour or two causing even more delays, etc.

ETA: What was once free parking for the earlier arrivers to tailgate is now $40.00. Instead the earlier arrivers take what is left of free parking which has shrunk over the last 4 o5 5yrs.

No I don't have season tix.. nor do I want them.
Yes I'd rather tailgate and watch outside on my big tv at our tailgate.

BTW...I sat in stadium club Saturday. ... Great part bout that is instead of being forced to sit besides a mad, sweating troll pig such as you I can sit comfortably in the ac and drink beer... For 3-4 hours. It's great.
Dumbfrick.
