Did that dude just suggest only people with tickets should be allowed to tailgate?

I would have no problem with this. Have a certain perimeter where if you don't have tickets in the car, you can not go any further.

I don't give a shite about tailgating and partying. I am there to watch football.

I probably parked next to you at some point over the last several years. But like you said, that school finally started charging. Actually, I don't even think it's that school that is charging, I think some other group is just taking up money there.

i just asked my buddy who is always a late arriver at our tailgate. he said he has had zero parking trouble this year. so i really dont know where these people are trying to park. my guess is they leave the house at like 1:30 and expect to just drive up no problem.

My OPINION is that there has been some pretty dramatic parking and traffic pattern changes, a lot of people have not adapted

then that's on them really. its not that hard to adapt.

What has LSU really gained from changing gameday parking, besides $40/car?

A bunch of pissed off fans, empty seats for the Florida game, and...?

IMO, there could be a few things done to help. You're always going to have problems with over 100,000 leaving anything, anywhere at the same time,but....

How feasible would it be to "three lane" Nicholson to Bluebonnet? That way the middle lane would be the 'contra flow' lane west bound using it going to the game and east bound flowing after the game.

This would apply to Burbank traffic, too. What about LSU buying some land off Nicholson and Burbank for parking lots and have busses running before and after the game. Yes,that would be costly and only used really 8 days a year, but LSU football is a business and a quite healthy one.

I take the River Road to the Levee Lot normally. I was in traffic on the River road for an hour and a half, from 11:15 to 12:45. The Levee Lot was full and I was the last car allowed to enter the new lot across from the new Alex Box.

The problem is as stated earlier, reduction of free parking spaces on campus and parking spaces being used by folks who only tailgate.

I was able to park, then walk and meet my usual tailgate crew in the Levee Lot. I saw literally 75 or 80 empty spaces during my walk. People tend to park efficiently if given the opportunity. The new parking police are not very good as using all the space possible when directing drivers, IMHO.

i agree it sucks. but you have to adapt. LSU certainly could probably do more to help along the way. But showing up to the same spot at the same time each week expecting different results is stupid. Figure out alternatives.

As bad as it is this year wait until they add 8000 more seats next year, might as well park at the casino and start walking

I came over bridge at 10:15........Traffic was backed up to port Allen trying to exit highland/Nicholson.
Went around that exit ... Acadian was backed up almost to college.
College was backed up almost to the splt.
I got off at bluebonnet to meet some people at albertsons on corner of Burbank.
Hour later from swapping vehicles we arrive at paid parking lot behind Walkons/LSU bookstore.

I couldn't even pay the 40 bucks to get in campus by ag center.
Guess they were sold out, cop wouldn't let us in.

Ill tell my story. I left at 11 from around Perkins Rowe. Was going to take Burbank to Nicholson and get dropped off around there. Burbank was backed up almost a mile from Lee at about 11:30. I decided to go up Lee to Hyacinth to Stanford. Stanford was backed up as well so i crossed over to get to Dalrymple and that was backed up as far as I could see also and it was contra-flow. Having people pay to park places on campus is causing this and its ridiculous. They better fix this or they are going to have problems filling up the new expansion.

LSU greatly reduced parking areas.

When LSU adds buildings, they do it by usurping existing parking.

There are probably 50% less parking spots in the immediate campus area since 1996.

I left my house in Denham at noon because of children playing sports on Saturday mornings. I had a parking pass in 408 (Alex Box) and pulled in at 1:35. The lot was less than half full. No time for tailgating but was lucky to get a pass. The parking all around was horrible. If I didn't have the pass I would have turned around and went back home.
I have been going to games since 1978 (season tickets since 95). I am about to the point where I would rather stay home. The only reason I am not is because I have been going and tailgating since I was a kid.
