that's the perfect angle. As an avid rifle hunter I would kill for that. Besides perfect dead a perfect dead on shot

that is the best possible shot you can get. The deer isn't focused on your location and the lung size is maximized.

Would place shot dead center, high in the back. That will drop them in there tracks breaking the back bone and NOT screwing up any meat.

Yes, I am. Started using that shot about 10 years ago after a good friend told me of it. Have a 100% drop in there tracks. Only break one or two ribs and don't screw up any meat. It snaps the back bone every time. You just have to walk up to them to put a shot in between the eyes or at the base of the neck/head to finish them off.

Sounds super-efficient.

It is, no waste of meat. I'm to old to be tracking a deer and I hate bloody up meat. I don't hunt for horns anymore. Besides, I don't kill just for the hell on it. I hunt to eat and enjoy the outdoors when I can.

For many years, I hunted for a big rack and bagged a few nice ones. But as I said, I'm to old for that crap now. I hunt my own land and I let nice racks walk and will take a small doe first. More so if it is a doe that has two yearling, I will take that. That gives the breeder a better chance to raise her other yearling and be able to breed for next year. It is all about management. Just like raising cows.

Well I guess you and I have different philosophies. I'd rather punch her through the lungs, wasting no meat and shooting at a bigger target, and go pick her up 75 yds from where I shoot her. That beings said, if someone likes shooting deer in the arse I guess I have to be ok with that too.

serious question: the backbone is about as wide as the neck at the base of the skull (that's backbone too).

If you are not worried about the rack and are so certain you can hit the spine but avoid the back strap lying on the spine, why make two shots?

Just shoot them in the neck/head the first time.

As far as the OP great angle. That is the angle you are waiting on with a bow. Personally, I thought he hit a tad high though.

To much of a moving target. But yes, I used that shot many times before and it is not a 100% drop in there track shot. Just like trying to shoot them in the head. Yes, I had a few run off with just half of there snout left. on me.

Is the land next door for sale? You sound like an awesome hunting neighbor.

I can't quibble with it much, but on those shots, I aim for, or slightly behind the far leg. Looks really far back on the close side, but it's not.

That's the perfect shot angle with a bow. From a tree stand I aim at the opposite leg where the arrow will exit what would be the armpit.
