Someday swap CBS for ABC?

When does the CBS contract expire? I would love to see the top SEC game of the week on Saturday night every week, instead of the 2:30PM slot. Big 10 schools prefer day games, so would be best for everyone. Let them play 2:30 CBS game and we take the 7PM game.
Or if CBS is too smart to let the SEC go, what about them moving broadcast to 7PM? It would outdraw whatever crap they show on Saturday nights against football.

With SEC network it's only a matter of time before CBS gets outbid by ESPN for entire SEC package.

But then we wouldn't be able to hear Vern and Gary.

to me, it's not the time so much as the xtra commercials cbs runs. it drives me crazy.
but, in La day games before late october are brutal. florida is worse; i don't think they play any night games (lack of hotel space in gainesville and surrounding areas). same with fsu.

I wouldn't be surprised if ESPN did outbid CBS for the whole thing at some point and then air the "best" game during primetime on ABC.
Disney owns ESPN and ABC. Mickey loves him some college football.

I would donate money to this cause! As long as the premier LSU games were at night. Would ESPN not make the premier SEC game be at 2::30?

I'm sure CBS would love that. ESPN would have something to say about it though.

If ESPN got a primetime slot for game of the week and had the same deal where no other conf game starts during it, we'd play a ton of day games. Be careful what you wish for.

If we go to ABC, the days of true nationally televised games will be over. We'll be playing regionally in the Southeast while the West Coast watches Oregon St.-Utah on ABC out there. I like CBS, but wish they would go to 3:30 central until the time change.

This. We would play a ton of day games.

This. It's safe to say, people really don't understand the exclusivity agreements, etc out there and contracts that are in play.

No. ESPN would likely not want this. They would want to over-saturate! ABC would get the best game while ESPN/2/U would get games as well as SEC Network. LSU would almost always end up at night.
But I think the SEC itself likes its biggest game to be unopposed by other SEC games. That's the likely issue. Maybe the league would settle for, say, their third choice game each week unopposed on the SEC Network to provide that afternoon exclusivity AND boost demand for the channel...

Even if we had a weekly primetime slot, day games will still exist. The SEC wants to maximize viewers by spreading out the games throughout the day. They would simply add a couple of mid-afternoon timeslots to replace the 2:30 CBS game. The SEC does not want other SEC games going up against its marquee matchup.
But it would be sweet to have our big games in primetime.
