Yesterday hurt, but the one that stands out above all the rest, which in fact is the most painful loss in Saints history, was the 49er game. The reason is that we would have played for another title. Eli wasn't winning in the dome, wasn't going to happen.

This game killed us making the playoffs.. I broke a seat in the dome after this one.

Raymond James isn't a dome. But yeah, I bitched for weeks about those two short yardage plays

I know which game he means. It was in the Dome in 08. Close game the whole way through. Will Smith got a safety to pretty much ice it. Then we run an end around with Henderson & Bush and they fumble & we lose the game.
The game at Tampa that year sucked too. Rained like the whole game.

Pretty much 2008 had a ton of suck.
@Den- down 21-0 come back & Gramatica missed a FG late
Vs Min- Reggie goes nuts, Gramatica miss late, Kaesviharn with the nice coverage lolz
Tampa- see above

The worst is Niners '11 playoffs. Seattle '10 sucked too.

But non-playoffs: Yesterday was the most depressing IMO, @ATL last year, @GB in 2011 kinda sucked too, @STL '11, vs ATL 2010, most of the 2008 losses

Vikings @ SAINTS on Monday Night Football. Reggie has one of his best nights as a SAINT bringing 2 punt returns to the house and we still lose...Not sure why it hurt so much, but that one sticks out in my mind

The only regular season loss during his tenure that I can remember being this disheartening was 2009 @ Dallas. I really thought we were going to go 16-0

how about when Reggie got his helmet turned sideways because the Vikings grabbed his facemask so hard.

No Flag.

The NFC Championship game against the Bears was probably the worst for me. It had me questioning the meaning of life. Going into that game I had convinced myself that it was fate for us to win the Super Bowl that year.

Not even close. We're 5-1. 5-1. I know some of you are spoiled but I can recall as far back a 1977 and I, as well as every other Saints fan would have taken 5-1 any year, including this one. This was an easy game to figure a loss. Second game on the road against a team that might be considered the face of the NFL. If you read up on why homefield advantage exists (favorable calls for the home team), you'll note that yesterday's game was a perfect example and not really unexpected.

We'll win the division and this will only come into play if, despite many intervening occurrences, it forces us to travel to Seattle for the NFC Championship game. And, that my friend, is an enviable problem to have. One I didn't have for the first 30+ plus years of my following this team.

loss to Minnesota on Monday Night Football in 2008

Outside of the 49ers and Seahawks playoff games, this is it for me. Bush had 2 punt return TDs and would've had a 3rd if he didn't trip over himself. There was a horrible missed face mask call in the first half that Bush wound up fumbling on. I believe we lost the game with a PI call on a long pass very late in the game. Just a crazy up and down game that I remember leaving the stadium feeling devastated.
