Just to fire up some of you guys this morning...and I added some quotes to spare you having to click to his story.

quote:

He proceeded to go after Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com/The Times Picayune as if he was Stephen Glass and not the best sportswriter in the state. Duncan was trying to ask Miles to comment on the fact that LSU did to Florida on this day exactly what Florida did to LSU a year ago in Gainesville, Fla., which was put the hammer down.

quote:

He was entertaining and funny as usual and refreshingly different than most coaches as he tends to be. But he was still silly and irresponsible. Duncan’s comparison was clearly accurate. Miles take on last year’s Florida game was clearly not.

quote:

But this is the second time in two seasons Miles has jumped all over a writer, and the writer was right and Miles was wrong.

quote:

Miles’ tirades are getting more silly than funny. The one Saturday was bordering on strange and embarrassing – sort of like the Bayou Bash cascade of cuss in front of his children in February of 2007.

quote:

So, what does all this mean? Not much, really. Miles is a great coach, and he has a “damn strong football team” that could very well win the national championship this season, and a hammer and nail in October could well be forgotten. But that's just it. What Miles should have been talking about Saturday was this LSU team and these players and defensive coordinator John Chavis and not what Miles incorrectly thinks happened a year ago.

Because I have to link

A writer scorned and rushing to defend a fellow writer.

Gilbeau is such a tool. Miles was right. Duncan was wrong. End of story.

Coaches all over America are getting sick of these kinds of questions and comparisons to get a quote for a story. Saban would have blasted Duncan too and GG would have loved it.

I cannot believe he spilled ink writing that garbage. Oh, wait. It's Glen. Yes I can.

Thanks for keeping me from clicking the link, btw.

there is no right or wrong here...Les didn't like the analogy...there's nothing wrong with him getting mad about it.

GG is effete.
He does not understand the Warrior/Coach/Alpha Male mentality.
If his coffee is not properly sugared, he gets all moist.

Thanks, cause I wouldn't have clicked.

Does Glenn Guilbeau not understand that what coaches and players say after a game will get back to the other team? LSU players told the truth about Auburn in 2011, and in 2012 the Aubbies used that as motivation and played us down to the wire. In 2012 UF players told the truth about the game (except that they started moving the ball when Minter got hurt, not when LSU got tired), and LSU used that as motivation this year.

Les is Miles ahead of Guilbeau when he doesn't want to give the 2014 Florida Gator team any bulletin board material.

Meh, I think Miles may have been slightly out of line. I say that, but I don't have to deal with Duncan, Guilbeau, etc. on the daily.

Was still a hilarious and classic rant.

GG is a toolbag..... Most, if not all, Coach's in America have tremendous respect for Miles because of rants like this. Miles put that reporter on his arse by saying he has more respect for the opposing coach that that. He respects them in a win or a loss.

I think GG missed the beauty of this, maybe purposefully just so he could rant on something anti-Miles.

The beauty is seeing that Miles truly loves the pageantry and competition of college football. He bathes in its essence, he basks in the sparks of fierce competition. He respects two opponents going toe-to-toe and neither one is demoralized or embarrassed by the final outcome, even though we know only one will win.

He truly enjoys two teams competing like heck and a game that produces mutual respect.

By his comments, Miles was as much respecting Florida's 2nd half performance this past Saturday as he was trying to underscore the respect LSU deserves for competing til the end last year.

I'm not a GG fan, but what he says is right. If Duncan could have finished his question, Miles would have realized he was being complimentary to the Tigers. But Miles got all revved up and starting doing his crazy antics and once he got a few snickers from others in the room he kept it going.

Most people here see GG and automatically think its garbage, but what he is saying here is pretty level headed and factual. Its not like Jeff Duncan is some intern from the Reveille, he is a pretty respected sportswriter.
