This will be awful and biased

The BCS wasn't broken. The "BCS Busters" have an even lesser chance at making it to the title game now. What a crock.

As long as it stays at 4, I'll be somewhat ok with it.

Although, most years I would say a four team playoff isn't needed.

It won't stop at four though.

It might almost be worth it if we can get rid of the Chik Fil A bowl,

No

Can someone explain to me how it's a good idea to have Condoleeza Rice, a known Alabama fan, with nothing to do with College Football..on this committee?

I hate the fact that the NCAA went with a selection committe. I don't see why they couldn't use the current BCS computer formula, or something similar, and just take the top 4 from that. A selection committe is begging for controversy.

I played I-AA ball and our 16 team playoff was selected by a committe of AD's every year. The top 10 were always a given, but the final 3 or 4 wild card spots were always a toss up and it came down to which AD could make a deal for his conference. I can only imagine it being that much more complicated with all the money that is on the line for a National Championship playoff.

honestly Rice is a good add IMO. She has plenty of experience on the highest level of meeting/communicating with leaders with huge egos and coming to a rationale conclusion. So from an facilitator type role, I think she will be valuable. I think she was highly considered to be the NFL commish a while back.

Okay how about choose 4

Oh wait, why would you when there are clearly two teams above the rest.

2005

1 USC 12-0
2 Texas 12-0
3 Penn State 10-1
4 Ohio State 9-2
5 Oregon 10-1
6 Notre Dame 9-2
7 Georgia 10-2
8 Miami (Fla.) 9-2
9 Auburn 9-2
10 Virginia Tech 10-2

2002

1 Miami 12-0
2 Ohio State 13-0
3 Georgia 12-1
4 USC 10-2
5 Iowa 11-1
6 Washington St. 10-2
7 Oklahoma 11-2
8 Kansas State 10-2
9 Notre Dame 10-2
10 Texas 10-2

Anyway, maybe "most years" was probably incorrect. I've never seen a need for 8 teams though.

The problem is every year is different, and anybody can cherry-pick a year to back up their argument. But I agree, 4 is enough. Teams at the bottom half of the top-10 don't deserve a chance at a national championship.
