This is the one that I thought was the worst of all the bad calls

Playclock is at zero and Drew is calling a timeout, however they let the play go on and Drew throws an interception and they let it stand. Oh, and the playclock was at zero for a good full second almost two. Wish I could enlarge pic, not an expert poster, but have not seen this mentioned in one highlight show either.

That play still baffles me.
But you know, the more I think about it, the more Drew should have just stopped the play. It's clearly 0 and you called for a TO.
Hell, maybe the defense bullrushed him when he stopped and we get a roughing call. Who knows. While the Refs fricked up, I blame Brees for not being aware enough to just spike it or continue to talk back to the ref.
But you know, the offense was taking the playclock down to 1-2 seconds almost every play causing almost every play to be rushed. I don't know why it took so long...but hey, don't put yourself in that situation when you know you're now playing both the refs and the Pats

Actually, here is a closer view. I know everyone probably caught it, just can't believe how they can miss that.

this was easily the worst call of the game...the only one really worth complaining about, imo

So many bad calls by the ref.
How about the late first down catch, that was picked up off the ground and ruled a catch?
Or when they were in the neutral zone and we were flagged with a false start.
I hate to blame the zebras, but the refs really cost us this game.
They were given so many opportunities.

Drew did not want to turn away from the line of scrimmage, but to get a time out he needed to turn towards the head official and request the time out. He is making the time out sign in the front of his helmet. Also where was coach SP? He could have requested a time out from the linejudge

Absolutely not.

It's frustrating too bc the crowd was NOT that loud. It was almost eerily quiet for much of the second half.

This actually worked in our favor as it cost them 20 seconds and they only gained 4 yards

This is just 3 of the bad ref calls that I observed from the game:
Bad ball placement to benefit the Pats on 3 and 7 or 8. Ref ran down to place his foot where the ball was to be placed, only to place it a good foot and a half beyond that... coincidentally giving the Pats the 1st down. Sean should have challenged, but didn't.
The neutral zone infraction on the Pats on the Saints 4th and 1 play that was called a false fricking start.
The helmet to helmet call on the Saints D, forgot the player, that was clearly a shoulder to upper chest hit. Gave the Pats 15 yards and put them into Saints territory.
I have never seen a more badly called game than that. Hell, I'd rather Ritter's crew call the game than them numb nuts. And I only thought the replacements refs were bad last year.

That play doesn't bother me because in the end we ran the play we called, and yet not one single person was open even with Drew bouncing around in the pocket for 5+ seconds. Drew continually throws to Graham while he is well covered and it results in tips/int's a good bit of the time. A bunch of Drew's int's are him using Graham as a safety valve, last resort.

The blatant missed holding call on galette was the back breaker.

Sorry, no.. I watched the game with my Dad who is obsessed with replays. Every play I had to see three or four times with constant analysis. That ball bounced on the ground. It went right into the ground.
The false start was bullshite. The helmet to helmet call when he led with his shoulder. That was on a 3rd and 18 too, I mean that right there cost us points.
The Refs fricked us. We didn't play great, but we played very well on defense against a tough Patriots team. I can't fault Greer on the final play. I fault the three man rush and the prevent when were were destroying the pocket most of the game.
But other than the last drive defense was doing well.

That one pissed me off. They were in the neutral zone, how is it even possible to false start while the defensive player is in the neutral zone?
Also later in the game there was a play where the Patriots substituted a player and then fast hiked the ball. Well we got charged with twelve on the field because we were substituting. You have to give time for a substitution, and you could see Payton arguing that.
Then there were a few no calls, also more than one time Brady hiked the ball before they were set and there was no call.

You also had Drew stand there a few seconds waiting for the whistle before realizing the play was going on. People stopped cause they knew the timeout should have been called, then had to start again. If the play was any kind of timing play, that fricked it from the start.

While all these calls were bad, the thing that cost us the game was the offense getting too conservative and not getting a first down at the end of the game. 1 or 2 first downs and none of these bad calls matter.

We still cost ourselves the game. The goal is to play well enough to overcome the zebras, the weather, and the opposition. We didn't do that and lost as a result.
