Should he be mentioned more?

I don't know why the press is ignoring Mett for Heisman. I think they don't want to bring any positive attention to LSU. But, we played the top defense in the nation. I think this should be considered for being at the top of the Heisman race.

Heisman is about stats and that Heisman moment. His stats were modest against Florida. As an LSU fan I thought he was great against Florida, but that wasn't Heisman worthy.

If he puts up big numbers against Ole Miss, Furman, and Alabama.. and LSU wins he'll jump up to the top 5 of people's lists. Johnny Football was great but he didn't jump to the top of the race until he went off in Tuscaloosa in November.

Mett will be invited to New York if he puts up big numbers and LSU wins out and wins the SEC.

no

because although he has nice numbers, LSU lost its biggest game of the yr thus far, when he had a chance to drive us for a tie or win (and have a Heisman "moment").

it's cool though, he has a few more opportunities.

so the press hates LSU? got it.

Am I missing something here? Mett led an awesome drive to put us up late. Including a couple insane 3rd down conversions. Then the D pissed away the game.

No. It's Marcus Mariotta and Jameis Winston and maybe JFF and then nobody else.

The Heisman would bring us a lot of attention. Just think it should be promoted more.

I disagree. Mettenburger and Brett Hundley should be square in the discussion. Hundley might be the most underrated player in the nation.

Mett threw for like ~150 yards this week with no TDs. Even JFF went for for over 300 I saw.

Mett is nowhere in the Heisman discussion. Just get over it.

I think his lack of big passing numbers against Florida basically eliminated him from serious contention. If he has huge numbers the rest of the year and the rest of the contenders falter then possibly, yet unlikely.

for Mett to be in the Heisman discussion legitimately in the media's mind (because you know, they control the whole thing) he'd need to throw for 350 and 3+ TDs per game for the rest of the year and miraculously become more athletic with his legs and run the ball...the last legit pocket quarterback to win the Heisman was I believe Matt Leinert from USC (someone, I'm sure will correct me if I'm wrong)

he's putting up great numbers that will set LSU records and get him drafted in the 1st round in June at the NFL Draft, but not win him the Heisman trophy.

That knee brace is not helping his stock either. I think it will raise concerns for his draft status as well.

We keep winning and Mett has a few big games with Bama and/or TAMU, he'll get an invite to New York
