It got out of hand. It turned into a pissing contest. Both parties should be ashamed that they made it about themselves

The AD was there but what was he going to do? The whole thing happened within a minute or 2. The game continued on without any issues between the fans.

The Nola article description of how transcended just doesn't totally jibe with Jack West's description of "well sir, just please ref the game, we got this"..
Even if the head ref was a real ahab with an off the wall comment of "take a hike", the waving him back over to be arrested once he had already had his say and had walked away back to the field of play..

Just got off the phone with mandeville coach. One of the sps chain gang guys ran into someone on the Mandeville sideline and told him to get back. He stepped back but apparently not enough for the chain guy so he asked the ref to get the guy to leave. The ref told the cop to take control of the crowd. Officer moved the man back but still not far enough so another ref got involved and this is where the refs fricked up.
They told the cop to do his job and the cop was the one that told the ref he would arrest him, then the ref turned around with his hands behind his back and said "I dare you." So he took him away.
