Tree fungus! How long do I have?!?

I was told this was a conc fungus which indicates that the tree is rotting from the inside out. Does anyone have experience with this? The tree is about 20 ' from my house. Is going to fall today or do I have some time? Thanks for any info or help!

You have some time if it isn't windy. Oak trees rot from the inside and unless there is a big wind event(hurricane season now), it'll stay up for a long time. I've seen standing trees with much worse.
Get a long drill bit and see how close the rot is to the outside of the tree. That'll be the deciding factor

I've noticed that trees that are really healthy and have big wide canopies are the ones that fall during wind storms.
Trees that most of the limbs are dead or has very few leaves left will just fall piece by piece. Which could be a problem if kids are bystanders will be by the tree.

Really depends on the tree. Some branches flex more than others, and some trees hold more water at different times than others.
I have watched a, probably 100yr old, Shumard oak go nuts in 70mph winds for 3 hours with nothing falling.
Rotten trees can still have very healthy canopies. Water oaks are notorious for that. The trunk explodes when they fall down
On my phone so I can't see what type of tree that is. OP needs to clean the grease off of the camera

There is a pretty obvious reason for this.

It's a water oak. It was very foggy this morning when I took the picture.
I'll take more when I get this afternoon

first ask your wife or yourself do i need a new roof? do i need a new garage? do i need a new kitchen?
then cut the tree accordingly
