Everyone is talking about Gravity (and apparently rightfully so...I still haven't seen it yet) but CP looks to be pretty damn awesome. Hard to go wrong with Hanks as the captain and the Seals fricking up some pirates. Will be checking this one out soon

They had the extended trailer before Gravity. It was one of the only trailers shown in IMAX and it was awesome.

The commercials almost look like they're trying to make you feel sorry for the kidnappers. I hope that's not the case.

That apparently is the case. A Times review I read yesterday argued that it excused piracy in a number of ways.

Have you seen "Stolen Seas" documentary? It was on HBO a few months ago.

I know that all the crew is coming out and saying that Captain Phillips story the movie is fabricated.
They had an agreement not to say anything to contradict the official statement, but now that he's getting all this publicity, they are pissed.

I hate the title.
And I imagine any sympathetic portrayal of the pirates is derived from how miserable an existence they have in war-torn and chaotic Somalia. Piracy is from desperation, etc.

I have a feeling this movie is gonna be a letdown. Just a feeling, no reasoning to back it up.

Meh. I'm less interested in this than I was for Zero Dark Thirty. I'm sure they take some very strong liberties with the story and take what was a rather boring story and glam it up.
Wish they would have created an original story that drew loose inspiration from those events.
