Can you guys recommend a moderately priced semi auto 12 ga shotgun you would recommend for about $400-$600. I only make a few duck hunts a year and don't want to have to keep borrowing my Dad's Browning auto five from when he was a kid. Just need to pull the trigger and get my own shotgun but do not want to pay over 1K for a Benelli.

I was about to come to blows with some guy the last time this thread was started. Still say for that price the Beretta 390.

Need to make a sticky for this subject btw.

Maybe a Yildiz O/U...unless you really want that third shot and a bunch more moving parts.

Definitely want the third shot. I have a Ruger over/under I won at a DU banquet raffle that I use for skeet shooting. Anybody have any experience with Stoeger, it was on the recommendations I got.

Used is fine as long as it was not abused...

Stoeger is hit or miss. People either love them or hate them.

I had to send my Stoeger m3000 back in after the first weekend of shooting it. Hopefully they can fix the issue. Wasn't extracting shells from the chamber. I like the way the gun shoulders and have heard nothing but good things. Hopefully this is just a small issue that they can fix quickly. I think you can up your price to ~$700 and get the Baretta A300 and have a little more faith in the quality.

Look right above your post and there is a gentleman stating the opposite opinion.

I have a browning gold hunter and enjoy it. I am looking to eventually step up to the maxus, but have had no problems with my gold hunter.

This. If I were a serious bird hunter though I'd definitely step it up to one of the B's.

Do yourself a favour and get a B gun, preferably an Italian B gun and you are done. Most of us have done the cheap/mid priced autoloader and given up on them. People will say I have used a model X for 20 yrs and not had a problem ……… Go to a skeet/trap club and see what is used there that will give you a very good idea on reliability. There is nothing worse than not being able to rely on a gun and having to bring a backup. A used one is fine just look at condition etc

i picked up a 3901 new from bass pro for 579 a few years back. best cost efficient shotgun made. did the whole 10% thing so it was basically tax free. I have never had any type of problem with it.
