Little shot at Dusty Baker / Reds by Hurdle in the post-game, talking about mutual, professional respect in the NLCS btw Cards and Bucs.

Classy. He is right as well. Good series buddy. You all have a good ball club and will be in the hunt again next season.

It was a fun ride. It'll be nice to see if Marte can improve (and learn how to hit leadoff), Alvarez can become more effective against lefties, Walker can be a bit more productive in the clutch, Mercer supplant Barmes, if the staff can improve / not get caught by Father Time. Definitely have some pieces, just need to keep progressing.

The margin for error in this series (and entire season really) was razor thin. Cards made plays in the clutch more consistently than the Pirates did. And they should, they've been there before. shite, if Marte doesn't drop a fly ball in the 9th against y'all, and Mercer doesn't airmail a ball against the Reds in the last week of the season, there's a decent enough chance the Bucs win the division and Game 5 was at PNC.

Hope springs eternal!

No question. The one tangible thing this year gave the Bucs is knowing that they belong in the post season and hopefully that instills that hunger for next season.

Maybe the ownership will sink some money into payroll and build on what they have accomplished the last couple of years.

i'm curious to see what the staff looks like. consider that Burnett was the only starter from opening day that was still there at the end of the season. Cole and Morton emerged, Locke faded. Liriano missed time early w/ a broken non-throwning arm playing w/ his kids.

Heck, if they had Liriano for 2 more starts......

What could have been. Even if they won the division, those bats weren't going to get any more effective against Waino and Wacha if they played best of 7, 9 , 11, whatever.

Harold Reynolds just said that Michael Wacha is what you would get if you cloned Waino and Carp together and made a pitcher.

I just came
