Interesting. Was hoping he would go to Chicago.

Cubs are indeed cursed.

I don't think Girardi was a fit for the Cubs anyway. I mean he's a great manager and all, but is he a great developmental manager? That's really what the Cubs need. I think Theo and Jed were going for a splash in the manager department because it would cost less than a splash in the free agency department.

Whomever they get to manage this team better be able to get the talent out of Rizzo, Castro, Baez, Almora, Bryant, Zastryzny, Hendricks, Edwards, Olt, Alcantara, Soler...

he leveraged the cubs for an extra year...wanted him but plenty of cheaper guys out there that could do just as good.

It'll be interesting to see who gets interviewed now that some teams are dropping out of the playoffs.

Dave Martinez and Jose Oquendo (they'll be gone today) i hope get interviewed.

Very good move. The Yanks need to get younger in the coming years, but they're stable with management.

And off-topic, I did not know that Girardi has an Industrial Engineering degree from Northwestern. Quite impressive.
