Advocate article

quote:

Gordon, he said, needs to continue getting in condition. Williams gave a timetable that suggested Gordon likely won’t play until about the Oct. 19 game against the Washington Wizards in Lexington, Ky., at the earliest. It’s possible, though, that he won’t play until the season opener on Oct. 30 against the Indiana Pacers at New Orleans Arena.

“We’re going to take our time with Eric,” he said. “I think he’ll be more than ready for the (regular-season) opener, though.”

Williams said staying in communication with Gordon is the key.

“There’s a part of me that I have to push to make sure he’s doing the things necessary to … work at the pace where he needs to be ready,” Williams said.

So Monty has to push EG to do conditioning so that he can get into good enough shape to play basketball? Exactly how lazy is EG?

They didn't use those terms specifically, but the reason they've cited for sending him to LA to rehab was because they didn't have the staff here to give him the attention he needed.

Pretty sure he just got cleared for contact practice last week. He isn't going to jump right back into games. I'm pretty sure it is Monty's job to make sure all of these guys are in good enough shape. Not just EJ. We've heard about his tough training camps several times now. What do you think the goal of that is? Gordon is coming off a surgery and it takes awhile to get into game shape. As soon as he got cleared they said it would be a few weeks before he played. This isn't news. Let's save the complaining about him til he actually gives us a reason to. Nothing to see here.

Just means that Monty needs to keep an eye on the limits to which he can push Gordon. Doesn't want to go at a pace too fast or too slow coming back from an injury.

Hey man, you aren't allowed to post stuff like this about Gordon. You're supposed to make baseless assumptions from an article and bash him whenever you can.

About Eric Gordon? And his injury history and lack of playing time? Yeah, ok.

I guess this is my contribution to the 8 pages.

Please God let Gordon give us two solid months by some miracle by some divine intervention so that we can trade him for something of value

the thing is we're conditioned at this point to believe he won't play.

same shite happened last year. he would be ready for the opener...then he didn't play.

He has to at least be in pretty good shape, right?

I would hope the situations would be different this year. He has absolutely no reason to not be ready by the opener. I completely understand not rushing him into preseason games and risking any injury or aggravation, but he's had plenty of time to heal up and condition. We'll see what happens but I think this preseason situation is just precautionary since it's important for him to stay healthy for us this year, whether for trade purposes or winning purposes.

if he stays healthy halfway through the year, produces 20+ppg, and reke/rivers both also play well, would you trade EG?

You won't get much value for him (and you should), that's been the issue for the last year or so.
