the Gators came in and gave the worst beating to us in TS history . Will never forget sitting there watching D Wuerffel and co. hang 58 on hapless Hallman squad, was a national ESPN game I recall!
Must make them pay Sat.; 2011 was not enough (42-11)!
Anyone else sit through this debacle?

I have a hard time calling any game that was a foregone conclusion a "debacle."

I save that for games like 2004 against UGA.

Also, even though the punt fake leading to a TD was negated, it was still nice to see their look on their faces. I know cuz I watched it at a Gator bar here in Miami.

From Webster;
Debacle:
: a great disaster or complete failure
But OK, I see the idea; don't recall the point spread but sure it was heavy. But didn't ease the pain any!
BTW, that UF team went on to lose AU the next week.
04 UGA was for sure, sat through that one too!

I wasn't that bummed about 58-3. LSU was terrible and it was expected. No expectations.

Also helped that I was only 13 and more into Saints and baseball.

Very surprised to discover that 60,060 were in attendance.

1997 LSU winning 28-21 was pretty nice revenge, but I'm with you.

Didn't we actually lead that game 3-0?

the game that probably kept Curley Gump around one more year so that we could all enjoy Pass-Jamie-Pass in '94.

Unfortunately I was there. Uggghhh. But I did get to see a very good FL team and a Heisman QB. LSU sucked!

It sucked, but there was such a gallows humor vibe around campus about how terrible we were that nobody really cared. It was more like, "Yeah, you're Florida, you're awesome, get it over with."

I DJ'd at Fred's that night and started off the evening with:

F*ck School by The Replacements
I'm a Loser by the Beatles
Loser by Beck
Even the Losers by Tom Petty
Beautiful Loser by the Rads

Good times.

I also remember watching the latenight replay on ESPN, and Adrian Karsten sitting in a vast, empty section of the stadium during the game talking about how LSU was actually trying to get funding for an expansion.

Inside LSU Football with Curley Hallman was hilarious the next night. He gave a speech to Jim Hawthorne about how every player needed to look in the mirror, see what they're made of, this is unacceptable, blah, blah, blah.

Damn...I can't believe I just remembered all of that.

I was there and it was awful. Oddly enough, we led 3-0 at one point.

Personal story, our daughter was born a few months earlier and the Mrs. and I had a rather lively "discussion" on how many games I'd drive down for (since I had season tickets). I said 4 and she said 0. We "compromised" on one and I chose the Florida game. What a disaster. There were only 60,000 to start with and it was rather chilly and by the fourth there may have been 25,000 and it was really cold.

97 was one of the great games in TS history. Was our revenge.

But no one has consistently beat us more in Tiger Stadium in the last 20 years than Florida. They're 7-4 since 93. Need to continue to even this up - we're 3-1 in last four at Tiger Stadium.
