Some thoughts on Beckham and Landry

FIRST, Who would you take if you are an NFL team? OR, What team(s) do you think each one would excel with?

Are they Saints? Beckham could be a bit like Lance Moore possibly... but not exactly how I see them.

Pittsburgh for Beckham???

Anyway,

Interesting DUO

BECKHAM: Started great as a freshman, had a bit of a sophomore slump, Now back to being great

Landry: Started slow, wondered where he was as a freshman as he had less than 10 receptions, and Beckham was tearing it up, showed some things to come as a sophomore, like Beckham has it together as a Junior

BECKHAM: A bred, a thoroughbred, Son of two accomplished athletes, went to Newman in New Orleans and more than likely had all he could want as far a training and nutrition.

Beckham the big city, engineered athlete

LANDRY: Center of the River Parishes, from a rather poverished area. Kind of in the likes of Jerry Rice and Walter Payton.

Landry the hard working, small town-country athlete.

BOTH GREAT TIGERS!

He had a broken foot.

In terms of NFL readiness Landry is ahead of Beckham by a good margin. If I was a GM I would have Landry ranked 2nd-3rd round and OBjr 5th-6th. Beckham could use an extra year to develop his concentration. Landry is NFL ready for the slot. Elite speed doesn't matter. Because his route running, hands, and physicality is very elite

You crazy. OBJ is a 1st to 2nd round pick merely off his deep threat ability, speed and special teams play. Landry hits me as a possession receiver, as in the Anquan Boldin build. I would say he is a 2nd to 3rd round pic. But the 40 time will dictate where they go.

Nah both of these guys are top 2-3 round players.

Beckham can be a returner and receiver and will run mid 4.4s at the combine. He's a dangerous deep threat (even though he drops a few). Should be a 3rd rounder at worst, 2nd rounder at best. Teams like the Browns, Bucs, and Panthers are looking to upgrade their firepower and he could be a starter by year's end. Plus he will finish with over 1400 yards and and 12 TDs, good enough to go to the Biletnikoff award show.

Landry is that 2nd round guy who can sneak into the first with a good combine and big stats. Does EVERYTHING great as a WR. All of his traits are elite except height and speed. Landry will run around a 4.52-4.55 but he has plenty speed to get away from defenders.

Interesting if thew Bucs, would replace and consequently unemploy Shepard

Eagles as well speaking of Shepard, maybe they would think Beckham could fill the roll Shepard failed to fill.

ROUND?

Never saw him as a 1-2 rounder before, but he is starting to convince me otherwise, but in all reality, I do not think so, Hines Ward was a 3rd rounder, He is probably a mid-to-late two to third round

Not build, mode

No offense at all because it is not just you

I think I know where you are coming from, as far as him getting his big hands on anything no matter how much the defender is draped over him

But I am tired of hearing people compare players (like Upchurch) to Boldin

First off it shows a little frame of reference, thus allowing for unfair or inaccurate assesments

BUT NEVER MIND THAT

While we didn't have this passing game, Landry was lighting people up on kickoffs as a true freshman.

I also think Landry is similar to Boldin. They both have great hands and are possession recievers. By that I mean that they make the tough catches in heavy traffic and get yards after the catch. Also, they are both excellent blockers and overall very physical players.
Also, Boldin is arguably the best slot receiver in terms of stats/production and blocking in the last 10-15 years IMO and I see Landry doing the same thing. I don't think Landry is a #1 type receiver but could be more of a 1B if he goes to a team with a solid #1A receiver like Boldin had with Fitzgerald in Arizona.

So I see Landry as a great #2 or a #1B type receiver, basically a great compliment to a solid #1 receiver or at least a solid deep threat reciever. But I see Beckham as a potential #1 receiver with deep threat capabilities. I think OBJ will work mostly on the outside and deep routes where Landry will work more intermediate routes and middle of the field.

Now what if they both go to the same team?!?!

Did y'all know that both of these guys have big hands?

Bet you also didn't know that Herman Johnson was the biggest baby ever born in Louisiana.

OBJ would offer a pro team the added benefit of returning punts, but i like Landry better as a pro. He's got that nasty streak that WRs need.

Landry is Hines Ward.

Physical, smaller, amazing hands, does everything well away from the ball, runs great routes, and will be in the league for 10 years.

OBJ is a great athlete but drops the ball regularly. He will be a 3rd option for a team for years as well as occasional return man.

I agree 100% on this. I actually think it is most likely that Landry goes to the Pats. Amendola took over Welker's slot position, but sadly, Amendola is a gigantic pussy and is bound to be sidelined half the season with injuries.

I am sure Brady would love a sure-handed, precision route runner who blocks better than most receivers.

That said, the Broncos or Cowboys may enjoy his skills as well.

As for OBJ, I bet he gets a look from the Ravens so Flacco's dumb arse has a big play receiver.

Beckham reminds me of Victor Cruz with a little less speed. I think he'll excel in the NFL.
