Why do they always have the kickoff at 11am?
Seems like the perfect prime time game.
In an attempt to answer my own question.... Does the cotton bowl have lights.???

I don't know if it's the State Fair that weekend. I know it's around that time.

Someone from the DFW area can confirm it, but I don't think the stadium has lights.

I don't know the real answer, but the weather is usually awesome so I don't mind it. Also, it's fun(if you win) to hang around the fair after the game and then go party in Dallas at night.

It's always during the state fair.

Ok that's what I thought. Now I can see why they have the early time start.

And has been for a long time.

Cause they don't want Texas and ou fans getting tore up. Just think if it was at 6 pm. A lot of fricking drunks
Posted on 10/8/13 at 8:47 pm to Mercy Percy
And the question remains. Does the Cotton Bowl stadium have lights today?

The no drunks answer is better than the State fair answer.
State fair goes for weeks. That makes no sense....

Same reason the WLOCP is never at night.

A quick Google image search shows that it does

It was at night....once.
Once.

At least the WLOCP is at 330 local time and not 11. That's 4.5 more tailgate hours.
Posted on 10/8/13 at 9:31 pm to WG_Dawg
Ooh that's right, it was a night game in 02.
Posted on 10/8/13 at 9:49 pm to cjared036
It's so people can spend money at the state fair all day after the game.
School is closed on Friday so people go down Thursday night or Friday morning and tailgate and party all Friday.

This.
Fair Park is one of Dallas' most dangerous areas. Being there in the daytime is bad enough. At night God help you.

Because if those two fan bases had all day to drink before a 7 pm kickoff, you'd have a three-hour prison riot in the stands.
And, to answer the other pressing question, yes, the Cotton Bowl does have lights and they still work.
