Can you imagine that? Wow! LINK

I guess we have higher standards... Total Defense comes in at #7 in SEC week ending 10/6.

I saw something akin to these last night and was also pleasantly surprised if that's possible. It feels like we have the worst defense in the history of mankind because we've gotten accustomed to what we've seen the past few years, but as bad as it sucks this year, we are still in the top half of the SEC. Glass half full?

Not surprising. Only UGA and State really threw the ball on us.

Other amazing stats although many probably know these...

LSU #1 on 3rd down conv in SEC
LSU #1 in Red Zone offense in SEC

Kudos to CCC! Big turnarounds from last year.

you can make stats look good....specially if you use the Miss St game to help...along with the previous push overs

The fact is we looked pathetic in the GA game.

impress me with FL, Al and A&M

Too busy getting run on?

Honestly though, when I'm talking to other college football fans here in Atlanta, I usually describe the season this way:

"It's a bizarro season. The O is outstanding and the D sucks. Well... sucks by our standards. It's just not great like we've gotten accustomed to."

Agree. I figured we were down in the pack pretty low however on this. At least one of the nations top QB's was the one to torch us...

Beckham leads the SEC by far on All Purpose Yards:

ALL PURPOSE Cl G Rush Rcv PR KR Yds Avg/G
1. Odell Beckham-LS Jr 6 33 686 74 476 1369 228.2

Does anyone know if he ever got any credit for the returned missed FG?

we have not played many teams with a good passing attack..the jury is still out

GA showed our weakness, the question is now..have we fixed it ? FL, AL and A&M will tell us..
to some extend Ole Miss and Ark

I feel better with current lineup of White, Robinson at CB's and Mills at Nickel and/or FS. LB's still worry the hell out of me though.

It sounds surprising because we are used to the typical SEC defenses, but if you've been paying attention to the conference this year that isn't all that shocking. The league is full of great offenses and few good defenses.

Which is a good game almost every year as of recently. Miss St had two weeks to prepare for the game and even used four new offensive packages. The defense only gave up 3 points in the 2nd half.

I am convinced the real issue is the defensive line. They are stood up on almost every play. They do not shed their blocks, use evasive technique, pressure away from their desired route or basically show any technique or knowledge of leverage.
This results in way more open receivers because of the time they have to throw.
Running lanes open and the dl just hold a position as runners go by.
Plus, the whole team bites on EVERY fake and misdirection.
Fix the dl and the rest will fall in place

I've been saying this forever. Our pass rush is awful and they don't stuff the run

LSU's offense maybe skewing these numbers too. While we've given up lots of yards in each game LSU's offense has been hanging many more yards on opponents.

the old fashion qb draw, with or w/o the read option complexity, would devastate our defense. we just can't cover the middle and when we hit a guy running up the middle he's tackled high and he falls forward for 5 more yards.
