"The greatest sports-related program in television history just received assurance from the NFL that it will continue to air the show even if no team is interested in subjecting itself to the national spotlight."
(because it doesn't help the team f@ck wads)

"A source in the room told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport the league passed a rule Tuesday that will compel one team per year to participate in the HBO/NFL Films joint venture, "Hard Knocks."

The league still will ask for volunteers. If one is not forthcoming, a team will be appointed
(By Tom Brady)

. All organizations will be eligible with the exception of those with new coaches or those that have made the playoffs for two consecutive seasons.
(Or your Tom Brady)

This is a tacit acknowledgment from the NFL that the show's range and power are an invaluable asset to professional football, regardless of any perceived invasion of privacy
( Or the show was going to tank with no 'volunteers')

What a bunch of bullsh!t. I will say I don't like the show and have always thought it did not help the org. or certain players. But I never thought Heir Goddell and the owners would stoop to forcing it on teams.

Thanks Obama!

There has been some confusion about the playoffs thing...Breer on twitter is saying that if a team made the playoffs in the last two years, not both years, that they could say no.

I have a feeling that the Saints will be on the short list of options if the NFL has to appoint a team.

I "volunteer" the atlanta falcons for Hard Knocks. Seems a great fit right now.

What's the NFL going to do if a team refuses to be appointed? Suspend their coach, GM and several key players plus take away draft picks?

If I was an owner and didn't want my team on the show I'd tell them all to piss off or buy the team and they could do what they want

goodell is unreasonable because of his in the closet status...sure he seems unreasonable to someone with a one way street mentality...but is he really that unbiased if you take in the A on the reg or the mouth for fun?

maybe we are just being too narrow minded.

Nothing like an idea that is so good people have to be forced into cooperation with it.

it's a double-edged sword really...we all like to watch the show...but no one wants their team on the show...

Would love to see the different kind of shite BB would pull to spite the league if it were ever forced onto the Patriots

But Kraft has way too much power in the league for that to ever happen

I don't. More people watched Spongebob this week than hard Knocks. LINK

Dafuq kind of a thing is this? How is this even real? Basically if you suck your punishment is to be on Hard Knocks?

When you're as big and popular as the NFL you have to look hard for new ways to grow the pile of money. This probably isn't aimed at football fans, but reality TV fans. Give the casual fans more reason to pay attention to the league.
