Ok, I'm trying to get into this game but the tutorial sucks. I'm not reading 80 pages here.
I get that I should upgrade everything, try to obtain heroes, upgrade them, etc. I'm setting up my "village" or whatever you want to call it...what's the idea behind it? What am I protecting? And against what? I saw early in this thread people saying you get attacked? I've been playing for a couple of days now and I've never been attacked that I'm aware of...I never login to see shite busted up or missing gold or anything...
I had Googled something about a layout and there were several posts about protecting the town hall? I have my town hall outside the gate, I thought I just needed to protect my gold and shite...but again, I don't think I'm being attacked at all.
Help me out here, is there a good tutorial somewhere?

There is grace period of a few days where new players can't be attacked. Once you're out of it, you will likely get attacked here and there. You will know it happened because when you log in all of your buildings will have about a 10 second progress bar counting down (as if your buildings are "healing"), and there will be a notification in the bottom right of the screen. You won't have to rebuild anything, you just lose resources.

do any of you buy gems? the 1.99 a day doesn't seem like a bad deal if you get 30 shards daily as well. hell I spent 2.75 on a java monster every morning and don't get nearly as much enjoyment out of that sugary crap. Upgrading town hall is up to 8 hours now, waiting to get more barracks for more troops! I wana buy more builders as well so Im not sitting waiting for shite to finish.

Just buy a one time package of like $50 on a bonus and get 9k in gems.
If you were to buy every day for 25 days you'd get like under 6k total gems.

this game revolves around champions.
Guild bosses - champions only
arena - champions only
higher might = harder time raiding = harder time to get gold/mana.
The solution? don't upgrade anything other than to get 5 hero bases (i think lvl 7 town hall). The reasoning is you keep your might low so you can freely raid others when you need to

i have 2 accounts:
my new account is 12k might: 8 different legends all 100-110. Raiding is too costly and time consuming so all I can really do is here be monsters and dungeon. Lvl 18 town hall, gold, and mana vaults. lvl 10+ everything else.
new account is 4.4k might: 2 80, 2 90+, and 1 100 (duke, champ, thunder god, druid, and atlanticore) and I can still raid people perfectly fine without needing troups. Occasionally I'll use a heal. The only upgraded things are town hall, gold vaults, mana vaults, and towers max that my town hall lvl allows. vaults are only at the level they need to be for me to upgrade my champs from lvl 80->100. Issue right now is I don't have enough hero badges and not enough max gold for upgrading lvl 100.
You don't need mines, they just raise might for no reason.

New problem...I just spent a few gems to get a new hero...it gave me a second executioner. It won't let me put both into play at the same time. What's up with that? Is the second one worthless?

Sorta kinda.....
Look at the specials of each and decide which to use, also once your defensive units reach lvl 10 you can garrison troops to give the defensive unit a special ability. So if you have a lvl 20 executioner and a level 60 that you use, you can garrison the 20.
You can also "eat" a fellow hero to help improve another hero's ability/strength
