not to rub salt in the wound, but this is right. and take it in perspective: in the big scheme of things, it's small. but i bet you never make that mistake again.

that being said, i know someone that got the same ticket as you and took it all the way to the parish court, and wound up paying an extra $100 on top of the fine because of "court costs" that were assessed since he actually showed up for his hearing in court. make the phone calls and pay it in advance. this is my advice.

come on man. not knowing a law as basic as the WMA permit is not an excuse. i'm guilty of not knowing laws in the past but it is 100% not an excuse when they are very publicly available. this is not a gray area.

I wonder how long this law has been in effect? I last went hunting on a WMA two years ago, and I don't remember purchasing a WMA permit.

I could be mistaken, but I don't have my old license handy to take a look.

I'm pretty sure they raised it to $600 for first offense. I love it. No telling how many years these moochers have hunted wma's without the permit

A while. At least 5 or 6 years. Also, don't be riding around on big arse tires on a WMA either. FINE. Or check your horepower size when you crank up that old Evinrude. Bigger than regs. FINE.

Read that book they give you when you buy your license. Good to go.

Not saying its an excuse but the guy made a mistake and y'all are chastising him. I have no experience hunting public land, but wouldn't think to check to see if I needed a permit. Guess I should just stick to private land

class 1...its $50, but if you go get the permit before trial, they will drop.

Yeah for whatever reason people tend to grossly exaggerate LDWF fines.
