Wife and I would like to try it. Is this a place where kids are welcomed?

yea as long as your kids aren't unruly little shits..no offense meant.
it's a smaller place so if they need room to get up etc, i would think elsewhere. plenty of "kid friendly" stuff

And it's in an older house/building, so pounding little feet on floors are amplified. Not the top of the list of places I would think to take small children, more a date night place.

Do not go to Roberto's man. Similarly priced places in BR that are better.
Last time we went there was no A/C. Food was terrible. Crawfish rubbery, fish bland, salad wilted.
There is nothing charming about it being an old venue. It is a shite hole.

Kids would be fine, it is loud to begin with
Very inconsistent , I have had some great meals there and a few that were just plain bad, it has made it off of our rotation because of the bad experiences
