Yeah, give more info. Did you buy a plant or did you chop the top off a pineapple and DIY?

ok it all started 5 years ago. I was at a friends house and they had a pineapple plant, but didnt know it was a pineapple plant until a fruit grew on it. Made me want to do it.

So i got a pineapple from the store, and followed these instructions.

well i kept the plant but it never did much, until two years ago when we moved to new orleans. i was taking the plant off the uhaul and noticed the middle looked funny. i was like holy crap! its growing a pineapple!

i used that pineapple top to start another plant, and it also grew two shoots that i planted. fast forward to now, i have three plants going and have given away another half dozen or so. Only present ive ever given to my dad he actually likes these will be #3 and #4 fruits this year. its an easy and healthy addiction i've acquired. my brother started calling me Dole.

How do they taste compared to the ones you buy at the store? Just wondering if you've noticed a difference.

Do you spray them with anything or are they organic? I think I want to try to grow one...or 5.

I let them stay on the plant until the outside is completely golden. The naturally ripened fruit is the most tender, sweetest thing you have ever eaten. Much better than the store.

I don't spray them with anything except h2o. I do throw a little fertilizer on them however. Also, I use regular potting soil, not the recommended cactus soil or whatever.

Sounds tedious, huh? NOT I've been growing them for the last ten years. I don't root in water, just let them scab over a couple of days and straight to the pot. Inredible flavor and oh so worth it.

My local weather isn't conducive for pineapples.

How big of a pot?

NVM, just read the instructions. A lot goes into growing a pineapple, that's for sure!

the picture i posted is much bigger, maybe 2 foot diameter. the plant is huge now, but it can be pruned if needed.

Five years ago. I have friends that I've given offspring and they put them in the ground. Ground can't freeze though
