What kind of suit and color and shirt/tie combo should I wear to an interview

Interview is for an outside sales position with a major steel mill.
I'm thinking of going with navy, white shirt, red tie.
Any suggestions or dos/don'ts?

I'd go something different than red for a sales position. Looks too conservative and you want to portray less stuffiness for sales.

it isn't insurance or medical device sales. Clientele will be extremely conservative in the steel industry.
Just to give you an idea, this position is 0% commission. It is all base plus % bonus.

Probably mostly male. you'd make bank if you were a smart, semi-attractive woman.

Everything you said in the OP. Any changes would even go more neutral colored tie. That being said I suck at fashion, I just know conservative males don't want to see a green pinstriped Armani suit. You'd be amazed how much time Wall Street guys spend on their wardrobe.

Doubtful, because when she didn't know shite about steel they'd be fricking PISSED when they lost a lot of money.

Dark suit, white shirt, red/maroon/gold tie with small pattern. Shine your shoes and make sure the clothes are pressed.
Good luck!
Good luck!

I wouldn't wear a George W. Bush power red tie. My go-to interview tie is a blue and red diagonal striped.

Dark or Navy suit, white shirt, colorful (but not gaudy tie).
Or you could just wear a "baton frickin rouge" tshirt.

While we're here, can we talk shoes?
My suit is dark gray/charcoal and for interviews I plan to wear a white shirt with a blue patterned tie.
Should I go with black shoes?
Dark brown?
Burgundy?
Probably going to get toe-cap oxfords.
Your help is appreciated.

Why would you even think of brown or burgundy with that suit.
Black, my man and don't go back.

My red tie is my best seller
dark suit with a red or blue tie will be fine. Blue suit a yellow tie is always a good choice too.
As for do's and dont's, have good posture and look the people in the eye when you talk to them. You would be amazed how many people don't do this. Especially for a sales position, they want to see how you would act around prospective clients, so think of it as a sales opportunity (which it is anyways)

I would wear black for sure. I am a fan of something like this.

What color are your eyes?
Very important for men. Shirt and tie color enhance the face. If you have blue eyes, go with a striking light-med blue color tie. Can wear white shirt, but make sure it is not blaring white.
Example: If you drink a lot of alcohol, you don't want to wear an off white or ecru shirt. Will make you look yellow. Red tie would counter the yellow tinge of skin.
You want to make sure that what you wear makes you look vibrant and healthy. Color makes a difference in appearance, even in guys.

Really? I've always read/heard to wear a navy or dark suit. The shirt can be white/light blue, and the tie be red striped, but not solid or bright red. More of a maroon darker red.

Blue. Dark blue.

I'm confused on what blaring white is?
I guess I can go with light blue.

Look chief, I'm the king of this shite. Wear a navy suit, black belt, black shoes, white shirt and a red tie. Preferably red/blue striped. Be done with it. Don't listen to this shite about mauve shirts and silver ties.
