Lease? Buy new? Buy used?

I NEED a new SUV and am 95% sure I want a 4Runner.

I need something that can pull a 21' bay boat.

I'm trying to decide whether to lease, buy used, or buy new. I see you can get 6 and 7 yr loans on the new ones, can you get those on the certified used ones? I plan on paying it off sooner than that when my income goes up (which it should in the next year).

You'll be able to get 6 or 7 terms on a used vehicle, but the rates won't be great. I wouldn't let a couple of percent interest make me spend thousands more on a new one though.

Depends on what you could get in the certified market. Can you find one exactly like you want it at a good price? If so, that's probably the best for you.

Or you could always just buy an '02 for cash and have a super reliable vehicle that will last forever.

No, that's what I mean. That interest rates are so low that financing is a great option. Use someone else's money and pay them back at a row rate.

And if you plan to pay off early I think your in a great spot.

***My opinion***
A lease on a new car is a trap cycle you cannot escape. Buy a car coming off a two year lease with an auto loan if you do not have cash to buy outright

they don't actually make exactly what I want. (Grey w/ beige leather interior) I'm trying to decide if I would prefer white/silver/black w/ beige or grey w/ black

JK, kind of.

After having 3 cars with light interiors and having to do much more work to keep them looking clean and stain free, I'm very happy with my all black interior in my truck and rubber floor mats that don't let anything get stained.

I've just never been a fan of black leather. The grey exterior alone will make the car hot enough. Rubber floor mats is a must

Eh, I've never noticed one color to be hotter than another. Leaving a car outside for hours a day in south LA, it will be hot enough inside regardless, and leather will feel hot regardless of color. I wouldn't let that be a deterrent. I also think black looks better inside, but that's just me.

I have a great relationship with a dealership here in the Dallas area and just bought a sequoia. I was told that on the four-runner and the sequoia, leasing WAS NOT THE WAY TO GO. He said those two vehicles are notorious for ending up in the hole at the end of the lease. I got 2.49% on my sequoia, no money down. I'd finance if I were you.

I'm trying to get TexasPete (or whatever his alias is) to respond to my emails but he is AWOL

I went new--pretty good rebates right now on new with Toyota and they gave me $2,000.00 more on my trade than anyone else was offering.

Also--my credit union that I use for financing will go 72 years on a certified used vehicle.

I thought you could usually get a better rate through Toyota on new?

I think you got used. Maybe on the sequoia he was being honest but the 4runner has phenomenal resale.

And dealer leases are designed to be a bad investment. So yea, your going to be under. Thats why you roll it to a new lease as opposed to paying them tje loss

I really enjoy my wife's 4runner but it has the worst turning radius of any suv I have driven. The older models can turn circles around the 2010 and beyond models. P.S we have a 2010

You could buy my 2007 one that just came out of its certified used warranty that I'm trying to sell. 71k miles.

Lame. You'd be getting a vehicle 1,000 miles out of certified for $1500 below blue book.

Your loss.
