I think people put NFL guys on a pedestal. The Superbowl champion Packers lost to an all star team. The worst teams in the league with banged up players and bad QB play could lose to the all sec team. Anyone who disagrees can't argue the fact that college players beat the Super Bowl champs.

By the way, I realize the game was 50 years ago but it was still the Superbowl champs playing against a team with a QB that went undrafted. Plus things like the wild cat and read option usually start at the college level so the NFL guys may get things run they don't expect or plan for usually. Beyond that there are some starting NFL QBs that would get replaced tomorrow if they could have Teddy Bridgewater.

It's like saying 8th graders beating a varsity team in high school. NFLers have more knowledge more training and more experience then college athletes.

A college all star team would have 53 1st and 2nd round picks. No NFL team would be close. The college teams would have a raw talent advantage. In some years that would be pretty incredible. Any year deep with OL and DL guys would have a chance depending on who else was on the team. I know people put NFL players on a pedestal and they would never admit they could lose to a college team, however if the Super Bowl champ did, then the Jags could.

Without taking the bait, I do believe the old Miami Hurricanes teams loaded with hall of famers wouldn't have gone 0-16 in a season. A team with that much talent wins the turnover battle, then anything can happen. The matchup would be much closer each week than the miracle on ice was.

One advantage that the college guys would have is depth. What they would give up in skill, they would make up in rotating players. That said, all depends on where it takes place, which rules, and how seriously each party takes it. Still wouldn't bet on the Tide though, but give Saban a month to prepare and who the frick knows.

The fact that some people in this thread are seriously arguing a college all-star team would have a chance is mind blowing.
The Jags would beat the frick out of any college team you could assemble.

It would be hilariously one-sided. College teams have tons of weak links. Pro teams would exploit those weak links to the max.
ETA: One thing every rookie notes is the speed on the game in the pros. A team full of college players against pros for the first time and people think the college kids would be able to adapt?

No college team could beat an NFL team but the absolute best college players, given a few months to play together as a team
On the subject of rookies, people are underestimating how much more advanced a rookie is than even a senior All-American. Even one extra year of training, growth, competition, and coaching at that level makes a huge difference.

The thread has been silly from the start but it really went to the Twilight Zone when the old NFL vs college all stars was brought up. Back when the all stars had a chance (and even occasionally won), the NFL players had off season jobs! Now all they do is train with the best equipment, learn from the best coaches and use the best performing enhancing drugs year round.

Rookies get an entire off-season to train with pros and learn the skills. The first time this hypothetical college team would get to face a pro would be on the opening kickoff. It would be ugly.

It would be a lot more than that. A major problem being overlooked in that scenario (though someone earlier mentioned it) is that this group would just be thrown together and expected to play with teammates and coaches with which they are not familiar.
Which means a pretty basic playbook, compared to the Jags who are familiar with each other and their coaches and can use their full arsenal ("arsenal" being a relative term) against the all Americans.

Doubt it with gabbert at the helm. The biggest place a college team could do anything would be on defense. I would take a few seniors right now over gabbert.
