So Boston College plays Army on Saturday - what happens?

BC officials are saying they are "exhausting all possibilities to play" but what does that even mean?

If Army cannot travel to play because of the government, what happens?

Do they postpone and hope they can play at some point later in the season?

Does Army have to forfeit?

Does the NCAA have any rules in place for such a circumstance?

I honestly have no idea, does anyone have any clue as to what the protocol is here?

I just read that too. My guess is that Army would forfeit, or BC needs to pick up their travel expenses. Those Jesuits have the money. They can pay for Army to come down to Boston.

ETA: Air Force at Navy isn't a big deal. It's 2 service academies against each other.

Yeah, not a big deal between two service academies but this definitely has some impact on BC

Seems like if you have a game scheduled and don't show up that is forfeiting the game.

Lol don't even try to blame this on Obama. Bushs own Supreme Court appointee upheld Obamacare, THEN Obama won reelection. What do you guys want, best 15 out of 29?

All possibilities would include BC travelling to Army and play the game at their stadium, in front of no fans, in the middle of the day when they don't even have to turn on the lights.
seriously.

That's if they really want to play the game or really want to make money.

It would be a nice gesture for the ACC to foot the bill and play the game.

Big "FU" from a private company to the govt.

Same with the Mountain West Conf paying for the AF/Navy game.

All the players will have to ride with parents because bus services will not be provided

Showing my ignorance here. Is the Army football team allowed to practice? Are they going to classes? I am assuming that they are non-essential personnel in the gov't. Just a question out of curiosity.

The service academies have furloughed the civilian professors and doing some classes with the military professors.

I imagine they are still practicing as coaches are not paid with government money.

Not a forfeit according to the NCAA, its like another bye if the game doesnt get played. Huge deal for BC and also Duke as it might cost them a bowl game this year.

Navy is not an issue with the government shutdown. Navy Athletics are a private organization.

Besides that will be a loss for Duke anyways. So they might hope for the BYE
