Not long after his commitment Godchaux said he hit the recruiting trail for LSU, talking with both wide receiver Malachi Dupre and linebacker Kenny Young of John Curtis. Godchaux's also friends with cornerback Tony Brown of Beaumont-Ozen and recently spent time with him while both prospects attended the Alabama-Texas A&M game. "No doubt," Godchaux said of roll as recruiter in the Class of 2014. "I've talked to both Malachi and Kenny. I think at the end of the day he'll (Dupre) will be a Tiger. "I think LSU and Alabama are in Tony's favorites," Godchaux said. "I think (Leonard) Fournette's favoring LSU and Hootie (Jones) also. They're playing their high school football and just focusing on their teams which they should do. I wish those guys the best on their decisions, but I want them to become a Tiger with me. I think they'll all be Tigers."

Also remember when he tore his ACL and a lot of people on here thought we might should pull his offer because he "had his chance to commit to us already?"Well look at what he says about that:
quote:

"I knew they were still going to honor my offer," Godchaux said. "Coach Miles told me before I ever got hurt that if I walked out and got hurt I was still going to have an LSU offer with my education paid for. That's something that really stood out to me. He was the only coach that told me something like that and that just blew me away."

So excited for Godchaux and I think he turns into a hell of a football player. Already has the size and athleticism and speed. If he comes back from his injury 100%, which I expect him to, he will be a big time player for us. And sounds like hes a great young man.

Not enough good can be said about this. It's a policy decision.

One that rarely becomes an issue, but when it does (and it has happened twice in the Miles' tenure) it speaks VOLUMES to our coach and program.

Not only Miles, but the University and administrators that have his back, too.

ETA: Side note: And yes, it's why I believe that we *are* different. That we don't play the handlers and payment games like the others do. Call me naive.

Is there any chance Godchaux is able to play next year, or is he headed for a definite redshirt?

Well his surgery takes 8 months recovery time. That puts him right about June, which is the start of summer camp. Who knows?? Everybody is diff with an ACL. Some people can beat Percy Harvin in 40s after 4 months, ala AP, while it takes other players up to a year to become mentally comfortable with the knee. After 8 months though, his knee will be structurally sound. All depends on if hes in good shape and if hes mentally ready. When he talks about the knee, he says good and positive things. Says he will come back bigger, faster, and stronger than before. Just gotta see what happens.

Oh, he also already knows he will be moved to DT at the next level and he looks forward to that.

Given his youth and the position I think he can make it back 100% from the injury.

How can some of our "fans" not like our coach? Coach Miles is a class act through and through. Has he made questionable calls/decisions in his tenure at LSU? Sure, but every coach has decision's that could be questioned. The guy truly loves LSU. It's not just a stepping stone job to get to the NFL to him. Bottom line, his pros heavily outweigh his cons and it isn't even close. He deserves way more praise than we give him.

Dear Mr. Godchaux

Much of the Tiger faithful has been waiting for a recruit to take the lead and bring this class in. You appear to welcome that role an we appreciate it.

I think you are right. I think the SEC has three programs who play that game. Most dont take it that far.

This honestly shows what kind of man Miles is and why players like playing for him. You can love/hate Miles but you can not argue the character of the man after quotes like that.

Also, could the kid who may not have an immediate impact on the field be the kid who brings this class together. Hope for a speedy recovery and geaux tigers!

I'm glad he is doing this but every time a recruit said he is doing work the opposite happens. Brandon harris said he was gonna get cam. Russell Shepard said he was gonna get that kid from florida and others. Not disrespecting just saying it usually never works

Didn't pretty much the same thing happen to Kwon his senior year and most everybody thought he would red shirt. Well you know what he ended up doing his freshman year. I think it will just depend on Godchaux body and how it recovers.
