I'm heading over to Austin this weekend. I'm not going to acl (already seen most of the lineup and it's expensive) so I'm just going for the late night shows and white womenz. Who is playing this weekend that is worth seeing?

I didn't even realize ACL was this weekend.

I don't know if they are playing but I enjoy the Austin-based band White Denim.

They switched to a two week format? Are they doing two unique weekends like Jazz Fest or the same lineup both weekends a la Coachella?

I scrolled through the listings but nothing jumped out at me except the 2 I listed. The Austin scene changes every 5 minutes so I'm not familiar with all the bands.

ETA: A Giant Dog is at Beerland in saturday. They are garage punk...

Is Earphunk not? I figured Bowen would've got them something there for that weekend.

On a side note I ordered my 9 to 5 vinyl yesterday

I re-listened to the Tips show yesterday from this year and it was straight fire. I don't care how times I've seen them I'd go again in a heart beat . I love watching them progress

yeah I'd rather take a swift kick to the balls then sit through another Revivalists show. I don't get their hype.

They're the shite. I knew those guys before they were earphunk. I like them more than galactic even.

I just want to see something I haven't seen before

Yeah they are all genuinely good guys. I used to help them with lights whenever they played the Varsity, Moon, or frat parties. Got to hit the post-show bowl with them after the first Daft Phunk show I felt so kEwL

I can agree with this. I will say that if Phunk had a better drummer they would be fricking amazing.

but I feel you on wanting to see something new

Earphunk needs to become better songwriters or just become a strictly instrumental group

Yeah their lyrics are pretty basic. I wish they would still squeeze in the Bunny Hop during Recoil

I think Michael Matthews is a good drummer. He's come a really long way. They all keep getting better and better

He not a band drummer, don't get me wrong, but he you can't really tell he's there. Like he doesn't have a distinct style. I donno I could just be greedy
