I know conventional wisdom says yeah but if Home field is with the Saints and Sea-hawks there will be no weather issues and can we just run it 10 times a game and rely on screens, and shorts passes.

Since we obviously can't run hoping we don't have too.

I think the run plays are too predictable. CSP already admitted that he has to get better at the play calling.

The Saints can only get better plus with a tough schedule - I expect the Saints to be pretty bad arse by playoff time.

Yes, you aren't going to be able to beat the better teams in the league being one-dimensional.

We need to get more effective at it. It's really hit or miss right now.

If we can improve this aspect of our offense we will truly be unstoppable. In the playoffs, if you cannot run the football you won't be in the playoffs for long. You have to be multi-dimensional on offense or defenses like the 49ers or Seahawks will stop what you do best and leave you with what you are weak at to beat them. We have to get this worked out. If we can get to a top 10 rushing team, we will win it all.

Probably depending upon the opponent.. The screen game becomes the run tho and we run it the best when the run blocking is lacking

Yes. it will catch up to us at some point if we don't get a decent rushing game going. It doesn't have to be great, but decent enough to keep the D honest.

THIS x 1,000
This is why we aren't an elite team. OL has to get better somehow. I don't see them getting "better" than they are though - hope I'm wrong.

No. Saints can win with the dink & dunk system. The short flips to Sproles, PT, etc. are really just long handoffs/pitches.

The screen game is our running game.

Short passing game is essential a running game. Extremely high % throws that routinely get at least 3 or 4 yds.

People get caught up with the necessity of running ball. Heck running is always more effective later in the game when the DL starts getting worn down (just like last night).

Would you like to see Brees complete the season? Then Yes, Saints have to run the ball.

This. Getting our guys out in space on screens has been huge. We will continue to run out of the I because it sets up the paly action but what kills everybody we play is that we have too many weapons to defend. If you try to take away one threat, Brees will go after you with another.
