I read the transcript from today, which I prefer over video. Just me.

He made some valid points. I try and not criticize players in CFB. They are usually young men trying their best. The main thing I took out of it were that the players need to do the job the coaches ask them to do. Which is know your assignment and do it. I think much of what we saw Saturday was players overcompensating maybe trying to do more than their athletic ability allows.

He also said the coaches have to reinforce that and get the entire team to buy into it

I trust Chief. The team Miles had planned to have this year--all the early draft entrants--would've been awesome. The coaches are working with what is left. There's a reason these guys weren't starters before this year.

As the season goes on we will see more of the true freshmen gradually worked into the rotations. Not sure who they consider redshirting anymore now that we only get 2-3 years out of the players. Spears and Hill were gradually worked in their freshmen years, Laron about mid-way, but Brockers was redshirted. We need a few DLinemen to step up, a LB and 1 or 2 guys in the secondary. Those guys are there. They just need to develop (hopefully quickly).

It wasn't the players who decided to get into Chief's famous "prevent defense" Saturday, or against 'Bama last November.

It Seems like the DB's are having to constantly come up and help stop the run, DL and LBrs not getting it done, DBs have enough to worry about covering Receivers.

I get the feeling from the transcript that Miles will put Robinson and White in more and let them play man to man to help simplify things.

He's right. The problem is the system Chavis is running right now. With the older more experienced players like last season he could get away with it because they knew what to do, but most these guys are young. Therefore, he should simplify his systen to let them play ball more naturally. They are doing way too much thinking out there and not enough football playin.

we should all know by now that, when it comes to fixing problems, what Miles says and what he does are often totally different. he's not mack brown, hes not gonna stand up in front of everybody and point fingers.

Exactly. Last I checked safeties did not decide to play 25 yds deep on their own.

Who is young? Ego? Rosco? Loston? Freak? Barrow? Jordan Allen?
Kwon, Collins - Sophs - all these guys are in their 2nd + year in the program
The youth comment is nothing more than an excuse.
Tell that to Sumlin and Jimbo who had/have "young" QBs setting it on fire.

Can someone elaborate on the communication issues he mentioned on D? What was the deal with the "sideline player"?

yeah, all you so called experts on here know what you are talkin about like you. You don't know jack shite! These guys are young enough as a frosh or soph, only freak and Barrow stand out. The rest you can simplify the the damn plan for to let them just play ball. Especially in the LB corp and secondary where they were really confused. That's who the comment was intended for any damns way. There's nothing hard about pass rushers rushing the QB idiot.

Guess playing QB is easy too .........
What class was Honey Badger in when he went to the Heisman awards?

Sorry but it is an excuse. Other schools play "young" players too

Guess the other 10 players are freshmen too??
The entire defense was pathetic - the guys in the trenches, the LBs and the secondary.
Worse LSU defense over the last 6 quarters in years ...
If they have any pride, the defense steps it up going forward.

The players couldn't even "prevent." This defense definitely doesn't match it's lack of talent.

LSU was spoiled with PP, Claiborne, Reid and TM for a good stretch. It just doesn't have those type of athletes and playmakers anymore.
