People who don't like the Falcons but love the Braves...

What is up with this? Seems like mostly Mississippi and Alabamians, but if you love one team from Atlanta, why wouldn't you like the other?
I personally have never had any desire to root for a team outside my area, but i do understand those folks who have no pro team to root for just picking a team with their favorite player on it.

Ummm...does New Orleans have a pro-baseball team?
Not to mention TBS.
<---- Braves/Saints fan here. Born and raised on the Gulf Coast.

Probably because there is no mlb team in the gulf region but there is an nfl team. Seems like an easy answer.

Because New Orleans doesn't have a MLB team?
For what it's worth, I hate them both, but the answer to your question seems quite obvious.

The Braves were the South's only pro sports team for decades.

Dumb question, bro.
Braves/Saints fan checking in.

Well, for people from Louisiana, the Astros are obviously closer

I hate all Atlanta Sports, so this isn't a problem for me.

This. Saints fan, so rooting for the Falcons is out of the question. There was no local MLB team to root for, and the Braves were on TBS almost every night, so I started rooting for them and it's stuck.

Same here, but it makes perfect sense for someone to be a Saints fan and a Braves fan. And if you're a Saints fan you pretty much have to hate the Falcons.

The answer is still obvious.

Not really.
For example: I'm a saints fan because i grew up within 50 miles of new orleans.
But lets say you are from Montgomery. You love the braves(understandable)but hate the Falcons(and love the saints, or another team), which are in the same locale. Why?

Born and raised in Chattanooga, TN.
Grew up a huge Bama and Braves fan. Never cared too much about NFL. I cheered for the Falcons since they were close, but when Tennessee got the Titans, I became a fan.
Still cheer for the Falcons, but Titans are my team.

I became a Braves fan when they won the World Series in 1957. Matthews, Aaron, Spahn.
Since they were in Milwaukee I could only keep up by reading The Sporting News and listening to KCMO when they played the Cardinals and the Houston channel when they played the Colt 45s.
I'm still a Braves fan but it has nothing to do with Atlanta.

It's about history. The Falcons/Hawks are the city of Atlanta's teams. The Braves are the South's team

True. I would imagine a LOT of the Braves fans in the Louisiana/Mississippi area became fans in the 1980's when the Braves were on TBS every day. Ted Turner was a genius.
I think a lot of Cubs fans were born this way too with the Cubs on WGN. In BR, we didn't get WGN until a few years after WTBS, so a lot of Braves fans were already established.

From what I can tell, Alabama sort of splits between the Falcons-Saints, North-South. They may have picked up a lot of Saints band-wagoners in the northern part since the superbowl, however.
They pretty much won over the whole state of Mississippi since drafting Archie.

One of the main reasons I hate the Braves. Used to always preempt pro wrestling.

TBS was shoved down our throats growing up as well WGN
So most people were Braves, Cubs or Astros fans.
