Are we a "hard luck" program?

In 2011, this team put together the greatest regular college football season in anyone's recent memory. They win the "Game of the Century", dispose of a great team from the East in Ga, and their reward? Having to play a rested Alabama team.
Our coaches recruit great players routinely. So much so that when the light finally comes on for the offense via a new OC on the switch, the defense is??????? Depleted, from record setting early departures to the NFL the year before.
In Les Miles, we got a coach that rarely loses, recruits wells, wants to stay here, is very loyal, and would be the bell of the ball, EXCEPT.......there's Nick Saban down the road, in the same division, in the same conference, who wins just a tad more in big games, and has the ear of the conference schedulers.
I swear to God I feel like we are turning into a hard luck program. One that can't win NC's for just having some shitty luck.

Payback for 2007 NC is the way I look at it...

It is frustrating that we can't have a good offense and defense in the same season. We finally have the offense we've been looking for, and our defense is possibly shittier than the 08 D.
Payback was in 2011

We are an almost program. Every time we think we reach elite status something happens to keep us from almost getting there.

We are an elite program by every standard you can possibly use. If we aren't elite, no one else is elite besides Bama.

What pisses me off is the scheduling. Just looked at the TV log in another thread for Saturday the 12th. We get Florida and the Gumps get Kentucky. Of course, we all know about the favorable schedule 'Bama seems to get each year. Somebody needs to raise some shite in the SEC office to make sure this changes in the future.

And who exactly deserved to be in that game in our place ?

you're right on.it's a bitch. we've not caught a break in the last few years when we really needed one. literally 2-3 plays have seperated us from another BCSNC.

Speaking of 2011. I saw Jordan Jefferson at the game sat. Looked to be in pretty good shape.

Absolutely not.
We have 2 NCs in the past 13 years. That's pretty good for a state with our population and with a "big brother" program in Alabama in the same division as us. Plus us having to play another monster program in UF every year.
I'd say we've overachieved.
You wanna know a hard luck program? Look no further than our opponent from Saturday.
One of the top 5 states for talent, they really don't have to share it with another in-state program, they've gotten so close only to lose the wrong game at teh wrong time. Look at 07 for instance. UGA was every bit as good as us, but they jsut didn't get the breaks we got. Look at last year...5 yds short. Look at 2002, any other year that gets them in the championship game. Have a lot more talent at their disposal than we do, and they only have one NC from 1980-now.
Or Auburn. 2 undefeated seasons in 94 and 04 and nothing to show for it. Always 2nd fiddle to Bama,. The one time they do finally win an NC, they fall back down to earth in epic fashion and suck major arse all while their major rivals is skullfricking them and everyone around them.
We're far from hard luck. We're just a little school in a little state who plays damn good football for who we are and what we're given. Please spare the "per capita" crap that will come after this post. Per capita doesn't give you the quantity necessary every year.

i think it's time for miles and lsu to step up in win some of these big games now,
we've lost the last few big ones dating back to the 2011 nc game
loss to florida, bama x2, clemson, uga,

We are elite now, but before you could call us historic underachievers.
We were and SEC school, the only one in the state, sitting on one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country but only had 1 title to show for it. We should of had a couple more.
But now, we are elite, and have been so for the past 10 years.
