Everyone knows boxing is crooked but if you have watched some of the recent fights, you know it's getting worse

Watched the Chavez jr / Bryan Vera fight last night and what a joke of a decision. Chavez Jr lost the fight easiy by not preparing and was given the decision. It was really a joke

We have all seen these decisions but what can boxing do as a sport to fix it? WWE has more credibility these days.

I have slowed down as well but it seems like every time I watch it now, there are major issues with the decision.

I think it is getting worse.

Fight 6 rounds with gloves

The next 4 with MMA gloves

Then fight to the end bare-knuckled till you have a winner

A lot of people think MMA is what threw boxing into total shite. I know it has always been crooked but they are searching desperately right now for something to help the sport.

Which in my opinion is why we get all the crooked decisions.

I just rewatched the replay on HBO..I dont see where any controversy is coming from. Jr won the fight to me. He needs to get serious about his craft & stop using his last name to get his way however.

No way he won that fight. He was atleast two rounds down. I understand the controversy in power punches vs volume but JR was pushed around all night. Vera controled the fight and the pace. If JR would have knocked him down, that would have been a different story. But he was constantly looking for an excuse not to fight.

He was clearly not the aggressor... And did not land the most punches or power punches

I would have scored it 7-3 or 6-4 to Vera

He could not meet weight and the pre fight was a circus because of it.

He was not in shape at all. His arse was gassed by the 5th round

Go to electronic scoring with formally trained, younger judges.

Reduce the weight of gloves by 2 ounces to get more KO's and stoppages.

Change to 4 minute rounds at professional level.

If you can't take a guy out and just boringly dance around with him for 12 rounds, you deserve any decision you get...too bad!

The problem with boxing is that the scoring system sucks arse.

This, plus an one governing body. Also, championship fights should be 2 rounds longer than normal bouts.

It's always been like that.

The issue is that most of the champions aren't American. I think that's good for the sport.

ETA: All championship fights should be moved back to 15 rounds.

Boxing is my favorite sport besides college football..I hate the state of the sport right now but I dont think 15 rounds will improve anything.

They are starting to get things right by having that horrible female judge step down. I love the art of figuring out your opponent for a few rounds then attacking. If folks aren't patient enough to watch a boxing match then turn to UFC
