Say Calvin Johnson became a free agent after this season. Would you be okay with the saints giving $100+ mil contract to lock up the #1 WR in the game and disregarding other issues?

In an offense predicated on spreading the ball around, sinking that much into a receiver (no matter how good he may be) would be stupid.

It wouldn't be stupid at all strategy wise. I've repeatedly said that he would help this team more than just about any player in the league. There is just no way to afford him. The offense would control games and put such unbelievable pressure on opposing teams. Springs, Moore, and graham would absolutely abuse teams over the middle and underneath.

Impossible to afford. Unless you want to let all the good young defensive players the team has walk when their rookie contracts expire. Harper's departure will free up a ton of money but it'll be instantly eaten up by Graham's new deal.

Where is this magic money you think we have after breaking the bank for Brees?

False. Harper only saves $2.1 mil if cut next year. His deal is very cap friendly.

You wouldn't have the cap space even if you wanted to.

Can we get Adrian Peterson too? He might be an upgrade over Ingram

It's not even close to possible money-wise, but the idea of Johnson and Graham on the same pass-happy offense is mind-blowing. Pretty sure it would be completely impossible to defend.

No, wanna know why?

A QB with tons of toys can't do shite if the line can't keep him upright.

Drew, Jimmy, and Calvin combined would equate to more than half of the payroll. Where would the money come from to build a better wall for Drew's protection?
