...at Silverbacks park. Wenet down Fabrice Muamba style without the happy ending. Tried CPR/Defib for like 20 min. before taking him away in the ambulance. Got an email today that he didn't make it.

Pretty disturbing stuff, never seen anything like it. Hope to never see it again.

Damn man, that's pretty brutal. Is Wynalda still their coach?

Gotcha, was he ever their coach? I thought he was coaching when they made that little US Open Cup run, but perhaps he was just the TD.

It wasn't a member of the Silverbacks it was an adult 7v7 league.

There was a guy that dropped in BRSA's Over 30 league five or six years ago.

That reminds me, I should probably retire from playing one of these days.

Yea it was the game right before mine but we were on the sidelines getting warmed up. Probably about 15 yards away from the guy where it was all going down.

It's been pretty hard to get the image of them doing the compressions and shocking his body out of my head.

How old was he?

This kind of thing is really, really rare. It's usually an undiagnosed heart condition.

I would guess somewhere between mid 20s and early 30s. Didn't really get a great look. Looked a little heavy for a soccer player but not like fat or anything.

This. All bullshite aside, if you plan to play, make sure to be checked for these things. Even if you don't play anymore, keep an eye out on the condition of your health and diet. No one wants to collapse and die in their 20s.

They are so rare that it's not worth the cost of screening everyone for it. The only people who get screened are professional athletes, and even then sometimes it's missed.

I'm not sure this dude had any way of actually finding out that he had this condition, unless he had had a previous attack.

I agree. I just think that people in general don't think much about the condition of their heart. That said, a rare heart condition killing you isn't really your fault.

I'm sure knowing that makes your corpse, the people gawking at it and your loved ones feel better when it happens.
