So Coach Miles was on XM 91 with Jack Arute during the lunch hour. Jack asks him about Mettenburger's return to Georgia and Miles says(paraphrasing) "it's just a storyline that's hyped up by the media. I'm not sure why it's necessary because the game is enough."

Arute says "It provides something for nimrods like me to talk about"

Miles jumps in "Do you know what the meaning of "nimrod" is? Because I do"

He then explains it is the name for some kind of hunting guide. He ends with "I was in the nimrod club and I always wondered what that name meant"

He. Is. Awesome!!

P.S. He's not lying. There is such a thing....

"The Nimrod League was established in 1923 to promote, protect, and perpetuate hunting, fishing, and trapping with equal rights for all, special privileges to none, and strict observance of the fish and game laws of this Commonwealth."

Definitely no motorcycle accident, there was a major brain surgery tho. It is supposedly also why he likes wearing jackets all the time in South Louisiana.

I've never looked up the definition of "nimrod" but in the right field bleachers of old Alex Box there were some regulars who would call the umps nimrods every time they appeared to or did miss a call. And it wasn't meant to be a compliment. I think they even called themselves the nimrod section. Anyone else sit midway down the right field line in the old Box and experience this?

I know that =Nimrod was a king frm the bible/ Sumerian texts. He might have been the guy who tried to build the tower that was supposed to reach the heavens and God knocked it down and sent all ofr the workers running around speaking different tongues so that they could not rebuild it easily.

I could be wrong about the exact thing that he did but the term "Nimrod" commonly refers to someone who does ill advised things. I'm a little surprised that I am the first one to point that out. I feel like Capt Obvious.

Nimrod of the bible was a "mighty hunter" Genesis 10:8.
