Who else is into this show?
It was slow and different at first, in that it wasn't just a "solve the case in one hour" formula, but it's really good.

Very well acted and pretty intense and vivid emotionally.
New episode tonight.

Who are your bets for who is the killer? They do a great job of keeping you guessing, helped with the season long mystery format.

I like the show, it has some good actors in it. I can't help but think the detectives son, Danny's friend is involved somehow.

Oh without a doubt he's involved in some way.
Tom, I think is his name.

I wonder if its possible that maybe he killed Danny? He definitely knows more than he's told so far, and I think the previews to tonight's episode show a lot more about him.

I really wanted to get into the show, because I'm a massive Doctor Who fan and I like good crime shows. We watched the first episode OnDemand, but we didn't record the second. And for some odd reason, Cox didn't put any of the other episodes OnDemand and BBC America only airs each episode once or twice a week. I'll try to catch up with it via Netflix.

I thought it was only episode 7 of 8?

I also believe there is a 2nd season.

Maybe so. I just saw a preview blurb that said the killer will be revealed tonight, so I assumed that meant tonight's was the final episode.

ETA: I just checked. Tonight is the final episode.

You're right about there being a second season. I wonder if it will be set in the same town? That's a small town to have multiple unsolved murders.

What a powerful show and finale. Great actors, especially the actress playing Detective Ellie. I could feel her grief.

The best show on right now. And the worst, because of the way they linger on painful moments and explore them so thoroughly. The solving of the murder only seems to make it worse.

Can't wait for season 2.

Agreed on all comments about the finale. Wow.
So heavy and intense, emotionally. And so well acted, you definitely could feel the pain, of everyone.

My only slight criticism, is the seemingly all too easy turning himself in and confession of the killer.

Fair point. But I didn't really mind because it's not really about whodunit. I also think though that the detective knew or highly suspected earlier in the episode based on the emails. Then he used the interrogation early in the episode to apply pressure indirectly. I thought that was a shrewd move.

Oh, I totally agree. It was a very slight criticism. This show delved more into the effects and aftermath on everyone involved in a horrific crime, and the entire town too, along with the damage to false suspects. Great stuff.

Good call. When he asked him "What size is your shoe?"
"10"

That was pretty damning.

I really hope they keep this show going. At the end though, both were out of a job and moving on...so I don't know what will happen.

They've already said there will be a season 2, but that it will be very different. I look forward to being tortured emotionally again.

I had been thinking that he covered for his son that night after an argument and accident. The actual reveal was obviously much worse. And then when they showed the actual night of the murder play out, it was almost too difficult to watch. I don't see how either detective could stay in town afterwards. They'd just be constant reminders of that time.

Damn I was wondering if people on here were watching the greatness that was this show. Got around to watching the finale last night and wow what an intense hour. You might not believe me but going into the finale my guess was on Joe (after the pikey woman said she saw Nigel on the beach I figured that was too obvious and she saw a different bald man. Only other one was Joe).

Some of those scenes last night were amazing. Ellie finding out it was Joe. The murder scene. The family finding out it was Joe. Truly gripping TV.

Does anyone know if it will be different plots, actors and settings season to season a la American Horror Story? Also Fox has purchased the rights to produce the American version in 2014/15. Don't know how I feel about that with their latest detective show with a killer named Joe. Trying to corner the market I guess.

Not to mention Ellie standing outside the house looking in. The interrogation of the kid and joe. And the fires being lit around town. I was hoping they were headed to torch that cottage on the beach. Nothing good ever happened in that place.

If there has been a more gripping 8 hours of tv, I don't know what it is.

The American version will probably stink. I don't see how season 2 on bbc could be as good though either.
