Putting down my Golden tomorrow....

My 9 year old Golden Retriever named Tiger has been sick for a couple weeks now and they have determined that he has lung cancer and there's really nothing left for us to do and we don't want him to suffer anymore. I've been doing my research and turns out that around 61% of golden's die of cancer... Sucks that such a sweet, playful breed is so susceptible to a terrible disease like cancer.
Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers. It's a hard thing to do and never had to do this with a dog. Got him when I was 12 years old and he really is man's best friend.

Thanks guys.. Also wanted to post this because I didn't know it was this common for goldens so if you have one please get them to check them at their yearly check ups.

I hate to hear that, man. I know how important mine is to me and it would honestly break my heart.
Your dog will never be replaced, but I've always heard the best way to heal your heart is to get another. Prayers and good wishes for you and your family.

That's rough. I've never had to do it myself but I'll never forget when my mom called to say that they had to put down my childhood dog. Cried my eyes out and since there are so many posts like this I dread the day I might have to do that with my pup. (See the BMC thread)

Still in school and I would have 3 tests this week while this is happening..
I'd love to cook him a steak but unfortunately because he's so sick he won't eat anything. I knew it was bad when he wouldn't eat his food and wouldn't even get up to see what I was eating.
I'm honestly at peace with it now but tomorrow I know it'll be tough. Just can't stand to see him so miserable and in pain.
