My dad recently purchaced a 25 ft' shamrock, inboard 350, with about 250 hours on it. has 110 gallon fuel tank and gets 2.2-2.5 mpg. we have been 30 miles offshore before. but no more. How far would the OB go with one motor?

I wouldn't leave the dock with an inboard gasoline motor.

Where are you going out of? If you go out of Venice. You can catch anything you want 30 miles out

Sorry, but there's no autozones out there...

Seriously, gasoline inboards are historically very unreliable in saltwater situations. I did not know that manufacturers made them anymore. In all likelihood, you will be fine within the range of the boat.

With the fuel economy you posted in the OP, I would go no more than 75 miles out.

Sounds like someone wants someone else to disappear offshore.

I got a camp in cocodrie. 75 may be pushing it. But I was thinking 45 or so. We put 70 hr's on it speck fishing this summer with no problems. But I have heard the same thing about gas inboards. He needs to get a diesel but that's about 25k.

We fish out of Cocodrie too. The only way we'd go out any decent distance past the barrier islands with one motor is with another boat trailing. Safety in numbers.
