His tackles are 10 yards downfield every time. He's made 2 open field tackles against goofy QBs on the run that were short of 5 yards of the LOS and thats about it. Comparing him to Minter in any way is like comparing Ronnie Lott to Rockey Duplessis.

I never compared him to minter, the other poster did. I simply said it wasnt our linebackers that were the problem saturday. I just stated that our d was better when our dbs were the leading tacklers, not the linebackers. Which people infered to us being in trouble because our linebackers dont have a lot of solo tackles. Read the thread dick.

The running backs stat of 5.3 yds per avg carry will disagree with you!!

Dline depth is a concern. The thing is though the DTs have played pretty well.

Yes our 2 dts have played well. That is the problem, we rotated 5 guys last year. We have 3 rt now.

No he didnt. He had 2 tackles, but he didnt play every snap.

damn near, if not all. He played in nickel the entire night besides the 4-3. And he was terrible, as always.

Welter was out when significant yards were gained

You are dead wrong bro, go watch the game on ESPN3 replays. Welter was taking bad angles all night, that is why he was catching up to plays for assists. Hell one play Mason trucked like a bowling pin for a 7 yard gain. They both met in the middle and welter made the tackle literally on his back, the positive is he at least made the tackle.

I thought that linebacker play, overall, was better in the Auburn game - now the entire defense kind of went passive during Auburn's, sort of, comeback, and give them credit for adjusting.

I thought Barrow, Welter and Alexander all had good games - combined for 32 tackles and held the top 3 spots.

WTF do you people want? The LBers had the top 3 spots in tackles. LOTS of stuffed runs.

We out rushed them and we out passed them. This is despite the fact that we ran 19 fewer offensive plays than they did. The turnovers put the defense in a bad position and they did give up 1 long 94 yard drive.

Other than that, I got no complaints about a overall solid defensive effort that had a couple of rough spots.

Linebackers had their best game as a position group.

(If anything, safety play is more troubling at the moment.)

That is a simple answer, we want what we had last year from our LB play!!!!

Yes but what you are not understanding stating is that we didn't out rush them or out pass them by that much and we are a substantially better team. The first half showed that!!!

Well one thing we know for sure, whether you feel our Linebacker play has or has not been good so far, we will certainly find out about it this weekend

But almost 20 fewer plays - give us 10 of those and the offense cracks 500, probably gets at least a FG and Auburn takes a TD off the board.

Nobody would be bitching about a 34 to 14 throttling (which is what the game demonstrated, but for our going to sleep late in the second and taking a quarter to wake back up - both sides, not just the linebackers).

They are light but they need to be strong and agressive. We need Jones out there more, we need Louis out there more, we need Beckwith out there more. This are your bigger, stronger, and just as fast backs. Welter has some decent solo tackles for loss but Mason ran him slap over. Barrow doesn't seem strong enough to get a tackles on his own.

In the secondary we have weak tacklers outside of Micah, Collins, and White. Thing is Eugene is horrible in coverage which is why Miles has switched him back to playing nickel. Loston can't wrap up and only knows to throw his shoulder. We are weaker on defense because we have no power. How many times was Mason and Payne allowed to gain extra yards by carrying our guys? The UAB RB did it too along with the TCU guy. We have to sacrifice at least a little speed to get tougher guys out there.

I also think Hunter should replace Rasco. That would sure up the ends. Freak has been decent, not great and Ego has been really good. We have to get the base alignment right. We have been doing nothing but experimenting and I think we put it together against UGA.

My biggest concern with Welter is that he takes terrible angles. He needs to learn that its better to make play 2 or 3 yards downfield than to miss the play altogether.
